sausagerollthe'fastest-sellingproductinsixyears'.Andbigfranchises

suchasMcDonald'sandKFChaveannouncedmeat-freechickennuggetsto

comeinthefuture.

What'sdrivingthispopularity?KatrinaFox,founderofVeganBusiness

Media,believesit'stheresultofsocialmediaandthebreakingdownof

stereotypes."Veganfcodisnolongerseenasabitoflettuceandlentils-

youcaneatprettymuchanything/'shetoldtheBBC.

It'salsoclaimedthattherearehealthbenefits.JohnMarulanda,owner

ofMooshies-aveganburgerbarinLondon-wantstoimplement"achange

toahealthyversionoffastfood."Something,heclaims,thatcomesasa

resultoftheinherentnutritionalvalueoftheingredientstheyuse.

But,isveganfastfoodactuallyhealthy?AzminaGovindjioftheBritish

DieteticAssociationsays"nottoassume"thatisthecase."It'sfineifthose

productshavegotvitaminB12,iodineorcalciumaddedtothem...butthey

canstillbefried,itcanstillhavelotsofcreamy,fattysaucesandlotsof

salt."

Giventhecurrentgrowthinorders,thetrendforveganfastfoodisn't

likelytodisappearanytimesoon.Health-wise,itmaynotbeany
