Theworldisnowpayingattentiontothefullpotentialofsocialinnovators.InApril2023,theUnitedNationspassedthefirstresolutionrecognisingthesocialandsolidarityeconomy

anditscontributiontowardssustainable

developmentagenda.Researchhasshown

thatactorsoperatingintheeconomyunder

diversemodelsbutwithacommonambition

tocreateamoreinclusiveandsustainable

economicparadigm,accountforabout7%of

grossdomesticproductworldwideandincreaseemploymentacrosseconomies1.Thesemodelsofferahugeopportunityforpeopleandplanetandhavebeenshowntobemoreresilientthanmanytraditionaleconomicsectors,provingbothagileandeffectiveinsustainingemploymentandcreatingeconomicvalue.

Thetransformationtakingshapeinour

undertookthisnewimpactassessmenttobetterunderstandthedirectandsystemicimpactsthatsocialinnovatorsachieve.

Fromthesocialinnovatorssurveyedinourreport,welearnedthatmostarepartneringwithother

organizationstoscaletheircollectiveimpactandinfluencestakeholderstowardsinstitutionalandpolicychange.Thosecollaborationsaretrulytakingplaceacrossthefullbreadthofglobalsociety:27%arewiththepublicsector,26%privatesector,24%civilsocietyand23%philanthropicorganizations.

Socialinnovatorsinthiscommunityareaimingforandachievinghighergoalsastheydivedeeper

todrivetransformative,sustainedchange.Whatmakesthemsodistinctisthewaytheyinvest

theirworkwithapowerfulbeliefinhumanbeingsandtheircapacityforself-determination.Whenequipped,empoweredandtrusted,peoplecanchangetheirownfutures,aswellasthelivesandtheecosystemsaroundthem.
