AnexpeditionfromtheUniversitiesofAlaskainAnchorageand

FairbankshasdiscoveredaregioninremotenorthernAlaskasorichin

fossiIizeddinosaurtracksthatteammembersdubbeditthe"dino

expressway".Thetrampledareawasfoundduringthesummerof1998in

Alaska'sNorthSlopeneartheBrooksRange.

Theteamfound13newtracksitesandmadecastsfromtheprintsof

fivedifferenttypesofdinosaurs.Therockinwhichtheprintswerefound

datestomorethan100mi11ionyearsago,orabout25mi11ionyearsolder

thanthepreviouslydiscoveredsignsofdinosaursintheArcticregion.

Paleontologistssaidthatthenewfindingsprovideimportantevidence

thatdinosaursmigratedbetweenAsiaandNorthAmericaduringtheearly

andmid-CretaceousPeriod,beforeAsiasplitoffintoitsowncontinent.

TworichfossiIsitesinthehillsofBoliviahavebeenrecently

discovered,excitingpaleontoIogistsanddinosaurbuffs.Thisdiscovery

includesoneofthemostspectaculardinosaurtrackwayseverfound.

ThediscoveryofaIargesiteinthemountainregionofKilaKilain

southernBoliviawasannouncedinearlyOctober.Herescientistsfound

thetracksofatleasttwounknownspeciesofdinosaur.TheseincIuded

alargequadruped(four-foot-ed)dinosaurthatwasprobablyabout20m

(about70ft.)long.

Theothersite,locatednotfarfromtheBoliviancityofSucre,was

uncoveredinacementquarrybyworkersseveraIyearsagobutwasnot

broughttopaIeontoIogists'attentionuntiIthemiddIeof1998.Thesite

featuresaverticaIwaIIcoveredwiththousandsofdinosaurprints

representingmorethan100differentspecies.Thetracksdatebackto

between65miIIionand70miIIionyearsago.SincedinosaursarebeIieved

tohavediedoutaround65mi11ionyearsago,theprintswereIikelym
