likely/possible/probable
possible作“或許”解,有“也許如此,也許不如此”之意。強調(diào)客觀上有可能性,但常常帶有“實

probable用來指有根據(jù),合情理,值得相信的事物,帶有“大概,很可能”的意味。語氣比possible
要重,是mostlikely之意。

bepossible,beprobable常用形式主語it,構(gòu)成句型為:

(1)句中短語thefirsttime引導時間狀語從句,意思是“當?shù)谝淮?..”,類似的短語還有:thelasttime,

(2)句中短語seemtobe意思是“似乎是,好像是“,后跟形容詞、名詞、介詞短語,tobe可以省略。

【詞語辨析】
look/seem/appear
look作“好像,看起來”講,指從外表上看。seem指從內(nèi)心里的“判斷”。appear指給人以表面的
印象。
seem和appear后習慣接不定式tobe;look后接tobe常用于美國英語中,其意義相當于seemto
be,都是“看起來"的意思。

seem和look均可接asif引導的表語從句。seem需要用it作形式主語,而look的主語可以是形
式主語it,也可以是其他的人稱代詞。appear則不能。
seem和appear可用于“Itseems/appearsthat...”的句型結(jié)構(gòu),而look則不能。
seem和appear可用于以there為引導詞的句型中,look則不能。

定語或狀語,作賓補的可以是介詞短語,現(xiàn)在分詞,過去分詞,形容詞,副詞,動詞不定式等,其
基本結(jié)構(gòu)如下:

so...that…意為”如此,以致”,在句中引導結(jié)果狀語從句,結(jié)構(gòu)中的so為副詞,后面跟形容
詞或副詞。

【詞語辨析】

so...that/such...that...
(l)so...that結(jié)構(gòu)中的so為副詞,后面跟形容詞或副詞;such...that中的such為形容詞,后接名詞;
(2)當that前的名詞有表示數(shù)量多少的many,much,few,little等修飾時,只能用so,不能用such;
(3)但若名詞前的little意為“小(的)”時,則仍用such,而不能用so;
(4)當that前是單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞且該名詞前有形容詞修飾時,SO+Q的.+a/an可轉(zhuǎn)換為such+a/an+a的.

(5)當that前是不可數(shù)名詞或復數(shù)可數(shù)名詞時,則必須用such;
(6)so+q4/./adv.放至lj句首時要倒裝。
