(1915),wasabouttwosistersgrowingupinthenorthofEngland.DuringtheFirstWorldWarLawrenceandhiswifebecametargetsofconstantharassmentfromtheEnglishauthorities.TheywereaccusedofspyingfortheGermans.In1919,theybegantheiryearsofwanderingoutsideBritain.

Lawrence’sbestknownworkisLadyChatterly’sLover,firstpublishedprivatelyinFlorencein1928.Ittellsoftheloveaffairbetweenawealthy,marriedwoman,andamanwhoworksonherhusband’sestate.ThebookwasbannedforatimeinbothUKandtheUSaspornographic.Lawrence’sothernovelsfromthe1920sincludeWomenInLove
