說是很早以前，有個莊戶人家住在驪山下，全家人都很勤快，日子過得也不錯。有一天，這家主人從地里回來，半路上碰上個算卦先生，因?yàn)樘炜旌诹?，這先生還沒找上歇處。由于主人家里很窄，只有個草棚子房，于是就在灶房里打了個草鋪，讓妻子兒女都在草鋪上睡，自己陪著算卦先生睡在炕上，湊合著過。第二天天剛亮，算卦先生要走，莊戶人叫醒妻子給先生做了一頓好吃喝，又給先生裝了一袋白蒸饃。算卦先生出了門，看了看莊戶人住的地方，叮嚀他說："到九月九，全家高處走。"莊戶人想，我平日沒做啥怪事，又不想升官，上高處走啥呢？但又一想，人常說算命先生會看風(fēng)水精通天文，說不定我住的地方會出啥麻瘩。到了九月九，就到高處走一走吧，全當(dāng)讓全家人看看風(fēng)景。到了九月九，莊戶人就帶著妻子兒女背上花糕香酒，登上驪山高峰去游玩。等他們上山后，半山腰突然冒出一股泉水直沖他家，把他家的草棚子一下子就沖垮了。不大功夫，整個一條山溝都被泡了。莊戶人家這才明白算卦先生為什么讓他全家九月九登高。這事傳開后，人們就每逢夏歷九月九，扶老攜幼去登高，相沿成俗，一直流傳到今。Toprotectagainstdanger,itiscustomarytoclimbahighmountain,
