require作及物動(dòng)詞,意為“需要;要求”,它的后面常接名詞、代詞、v.-ing形式、不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)或that從句(從句謂語用“should+動(dòng)詞原形”,其中should可以省略)。

這些植物需要悉心照顧。LanguagepointsThepearsrequirewashingbeforeeating.梨吃前需要洗一下。Herequiresthatwe(should)workallnight.他需要我們整晚都工作。requiredoingsth.“需要(被)……”,=requiretobedonee.g.Thebikerequirespainting.=Thehouserequirestobepainted.

這輛自行車需要油漆一下。

require可用于被動(dòng)語態(tài),但不用于進(jìn)行時(shí)態(tài)。

e.g.Wearerequiredtotakepartinthemeeting.

我們需要參加這個(gè)會(huì)議。LanguagepointsItis/wasthesamewith…(=Soitis/waswith…)是表達(dá)“也”的一個(gè)句型,無論前提是肯定或否定意思都可使用?!狪didn’ttalkmuchaboutcommunicationlastnight.

昨天晚上我沒過多地談?wù)摐贤▎栴}?!狪twasthesamewithme.Soitwaswithme./Ididn’t,either./NeitherdidI.我也是。Languagepointslikely在本句中是形容詞,表示“可能的;有傾向的”,既可以用人作主語,也可以用物作主語。e.g.Sheisn’tlikelytocomenow.It’stoolate.

她很可能不會(huì)來了,太晚了。Languagepoints(1)get…out在此句中的意思是“使……出來”。e.g.Pleasegetthepigout.

請把那頭豬放出來。(2)intheopen在此句中的意思是“公開地”。e.g.Hedoesn’tdaretoactintheopen.他不敢公開行動(dòng)。Languagepointsintheopen還有“在露天(戶外、野外)”的意思。e.g.Don’tsleepintheopen.

別在戶外睡覺。cometo在此句中的意思“得到(結(jié)果)”。e.g.Theycametoafight.結(jié)果他們打起來了。

moveon在此處的意思是“更換話題”。e.g.Wehavetalkedmuchaboutthistrouble.Let’smoveon.對此我們談得很多了,更換話題吧。Languagepointshopefully是副詞,在句中作狀語,能這樣用的通常是-ly結(jié)尾的副詞。

e.g.Personally,Ithinkheisagoodteacher.
