baitedhooks.Duringthetrials,“bycatch"ofbluesharksper1,

000hooksfellby91.3%.

Anestimated100millionsharksarekilledannuallyby

commercialfisheriesandsharkpopulationshavefallen71%

since1970,accordingtoscientists.

instrumentswillbeveryhelpfulforcompaniestobeabletolabel

anditisnotyetcommerciallyavailable.Thebatterymustbe

changedafter65hours,whichwouldnotbefeasibleforvessels

thatdeploythousandsofhooksonfishinglinesthatcanstretch
