Unit2ReadingandThinkingExplorePeruThethemeofUnit2isoneofthethreemajorthematiccontextsinseniorhighEnglishmanandnature.AndthebigconceptofthisunitistheTravelling,toexpressitinmoredetail,ittalksabouthowtogetreadytotravel,plantotravelandgetstartedtotravel.Asthe2ndperiodofthisunit,itcloselyfollowedthebigconcept,andtoteachstudentstosearchforvariousinformationandprepareforatravelplan,itstimulatestheprocessofacquiringknowledgeofthetraveldestinationfromtwodifferenttypes.=1\*ROMANIAnalysisoftheTeachingMaterialThereadingtextisanoncontinuoustext,whichprovidestwodifferenttypesoftext:thefirstisabriefintroductiontoPeru'sgeographyandhistory,whichaimstointroducePerutoreaders;Thesecondisatourismbrochure,whichaimstoremendthefourtouristroutesofPerutoreaders.Besides,theyhavedistinctivelanguagefeatures.Studentsareguidedtopareandanalyzethedifferenttypestoformarationalunderstandingofthemanddeveloptheabilityofcriticalthinkingonrelatedtypes.Studentsarecuriousabouttheoutsideworldandpassionateabouttravelling,whichwillinspirethemtogetmoreinterestedintoday’sclass.Inaddition,studentshaveacquiredsomeknowledgeabouthowtogetreadytotravel,whichhasenabledthemtopreparewellfortheingdestination.However,Peruisnotsofamiliartostudents,sodifferentsourcesarenecessaryforthemtogetreadyforclass.Basedontheanalysisabove,teachingobjectivesaresetasfollows:LanguageCapability
