Hestartedworkingonrocketdesign.Duringhiswork,hedesignedanumberofrocketsand

missiles.In1992,hewasnamedasthefirstchiefplannerofthenation'smannedspaceflight

program,althoughhewasalready60.Thetaskbroughthimagreatdealofpressure,buthestuck

tohistaskbecausehethoughtitwashisdutytomakethenarioivsdrcamofflyingintospacecome

(rue.Underhisleadership,Chinasucceededinitsfirstmannedspaceflightin2003.Forhis
