Developingideas—Listeningandspeaking

What:Thetextiscentredaroundtheusageofdigitaldevicesandtheattitudestowardsthemwithinafamilycontext.Itusesaconversation-listeningtaskandalettertoexplorethedifferentopinionsbetweenmotherandsonregardingphoneusage.Itposesquestionstomakestudentsunderstandthecharactersthoughtsandfeelings,andalsoincludesapair-workactivityaboutusingdigitaldeviceswisely.Why:Thetextaimstomakestudentsawareoftheimpactofdigitaldevicesonfamilyrelationshipsanddailylife,andtoencouragethemtothinkabouthowtousethesedevicesmorewisely.Bypresentingdifferentattitudeswithinafamily,itpromptsstudentstoreflectontheirownusage.Besides,throughthepair-workanddiscussion,thetextalsoaimstodevelopstudentscommunicationskillsandtheirunderstandingofthebalancebetweendigitallifeandreal-lifeinteractions.Thisalsohelpstoinstillvaluessuchasself-disciplineinusingdigitaldevicesandrespectforfamilymembers'opinions,emphasisingtheimportanceofhealthyfamilyrelationshipinthedigitalage.
