That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer -thats all. David had not miss
6、ed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. 10、 “David, no one can stop you from following your own heart,“ I said in a soft voice, pausing on each word. His eyes narrowed and his usual big toothy smile returned. Sure enough, he would run.I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. Davids small body shook awkwardly a
11、s he strode forward. A clumsy duck!” A sneer stirred a ripple of laughter. Before I could shut them down, cheers and shouts thundered through the forest, his schoolmates throwing their fists yelling out their support. Infected with our burning enthusiasm and Davids unshakable determination, the teac
12、hers and kids from other schools joined in our wild cheers, drowning out those mean noises. When David dragged himself to the finish line, all his classmates piled on and threw him in the air.
