heldafull-orpart-timejob.Moreandmorehusbandsshareresponsibilitiestraditionallyhandledbywomen,suchascooking,doinghousework,andcaringforchildren.

Ontheaverage,menandwomenstaysinglelongerthantheyoncedid.In1950s,menmarriedatanaverageageof23,andwomenmarriedatanaverageageof20.Bythemid-1990s,theaveragemarriageagewasabout26.5formenandabout24.5forwomen.
