Introduction
We’vepulledtogetheraquestionsetthatwethinkcoversthebasicsofatypicaltraditionalengagementsurvey.Youcanusethisquestionsetas-is,orforaddingorremovingquestionsfromyourexistingsurvey.
CommonSurveyDefinitions
+Thiscompanyreferstotheoverallglobalorganization.
+Mymanagerreferstothepersonyoureportto;mostlikelythepersonwhoconductsyourperformancereviews.
+Myteamreferstothegroupofpeopleyouworkwithdirectly,and
shareamanagerwith.

?Foreachthemeyouwillwanttoincludeatleast3questionstogiveyouabroadspreadofresponsesinthattheme.
?Thequestionsshouldattempttomeasuredifferentaspectsofthattheme(e.g.,thecompany,themanager,theteam,theindividual),sothatyougetanewpieceofinformationfromeach.
+Whereverpossible,organizeyourresponsestobeonafive-pointscale.Themajority
ofthetime,youshouldbeabletowordaquestiontobeansweredona“Strongly
Agree-StronglyDisagree”scale,ora“VeryGood-VeryPoor”scale.Thiswillallowyoutodirectlycomparedifferentquestionscores—anessentialrequirementonanyemployeesurvey.ThequestionsinthissetshouldmostlybeansweredonanAgree-Disagree

You’llseethesurveytemplateis42questions,whichshouldtakemostemployeesaround10-15minutestocomplete.Thereisno‘ideallength’foranemployeesurvey—itisdependentontheindividualneedsofyourorganization.Thekeyistofindabalancebetweenaskingenoughquestionstoberobust,andnotaskingsomanyquestionsthatyoursurveybecomestoolong,withdatatoocomplicatedtodigestinreports.Asageneralrule,we’dadviselimitingyoursurveyto65-70questions.Agoodwaytopotentially“cull”
