TheprofessorexplainedthreeaspectsofthenewguidelinesadoptedintheUnitedKingdom,eachofwhichhassuccessfullyaddressedtheproblemsmentionedinthereadingpassageconcerningthepreservationofartifacts,thefundingofarchaeologicalresearch,andcareeropportunitiesinarchaeology.
First,theprofessorpointedoutthataccordingtothenewguidelines,anyconstructionprojectmustundergoanevaluationprocessinorderforthearchaeologicalvalueofthesitetobeascertained.Ifasiteisdeterminedtocontainpreciousobjects,apanelofexpertsisconvenedtodrawupapreservationplan.Thismeasurehasprovenveryeffectiveinaddressingthefirstproblemmentionedinthereading一carelessandirresponsibleconstructionprojectsbeingpursuedwithoutanyregardforarchaeologicalpreservation.
Second,thelecturerexplainedthatthenewguidelinesshiftedtheresponsibilityforfundingarchaeologicalwork,frominitialexaminationtofuturepreservation,fromthegovernmenttoconstructioncompanies.Asaresultofthisshift,

neededtohandleworkatvariousstagesofarchaeologicalinvestigation,research,andpreservation.

First,theprofessorpointsoutthaturbangrowth,whileharmfultosometypesofbirds,couldprovidehabitatsformanyothertypes.Asamatteroffact,urbanandsuburbandwellerscomplainfrequentlyaouttoomanybirds,this,however,
