一、重點(diǎn)詞匯

【知識(shí)梳理】

1.invent發(fā)明;創(chuàng)造

invent指發(fā)明創(chuàng)造出自然界本來(lái)不存在的東西,如工具、方法、手段、汽車、電器、合成材料等。

Bellinventedthetelephone.貝爾發(fā)明了電話。

Smithinventedanewteachingmethod.史密斯發(fā)明了?種新的教學(xué)方法。

【拓展】discover,find,create

discover是“發(fā)現(xiàn)”的意思,是指發(fā)現(xiàn)原來(lái)就有而一直沒(méi)被發(fā)現(xiàn),如發(fā)現(xiàn)電、煤、石油等礦臧及新星、星

系或科學(xué)真理等。

ColumbusdiscoveredAmericain1492.1492年哥倫布發(fā)現(xiàn)了新大陸。

find的意思是“尋找”,強(qiáng)調(diào)找的結(jié)果,并不指發(fā)現(xiàn)。

2.beusedfor用來(lái)做...

此短語(yǔ)中的for是介詞,表示用途,后接名詞或動(dòng)詞-ing形式。

Anorangeisusedformedicine.桔子可以入藥。

Apenisusedforwriting.鋼筆用來(lái)寫字。

【辨析】beusedas與beusedby

beusedas意為“被用作……”,介詞as表示“作為”,其后一般接名詞,強(qiáng)調(diào)使用的工具及手段。

英語(yǔ)在許多國(guó)家被當(dāng)作第二語(yǔ)言使用。

①please

表請(qǐng)求或要求的語(yǔ)氣。是動(dòng)詞(及物動(dòng)詞)。

-Sitdown,please.請(qǐng)坐。(或Pleasesitdown)

表“討好,討人喜歡;喜歡“(不及物動(dòng)詞)或者“使…高興,使…滿意,使…喜歡”(及物動(dòng)詞)

②pleased形容詞。表示“高興的,喜歡的,滿意的“。它指的是人主觀上感到的滿足心理

④pleasant形容詞。表示“令人愉快的”“讓人感到滿意'主語(yǔ)一般為物。

1.notonly...but(also)...在句中常用來(lái)連接兩個(gè)對(duì)等的成分,also可以省略。

Eg:HeislearningnotonlyEnglishbut(also)French.他不但在學(xué)英語(yǔ),而且還在學(xué)法語(yǔ)。

ShespeaksRussiannotonlyinclassbut(also)athome.她在課堂上和家里都說(shuō)俄語(yǔ)。

2.notonly...but(also)…用來(lái)連接兩個(gè)主語(yǔ)時(shí),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)遵循“就近原則”,即和but(also)后

的名詞或代詞的數(shù)一致。

不但周霞,而且她的父母都喜歡看足球比賽。

3.notonly...but(also)…連接兩個(gè)分句,當(dāng)notonly位于句首,前一個(gè)分句常用倒裝來(lái)表示強(qiáng)調(diào),而but

(also)后的分句仍用陳述語(yǔ)序。
