ConfuciussuggestedtheGoldenRuleasaprinciplefortheconductoflife.nDonotdotoothers

whatyouwouldnotwantotherstodotoyou."Heassumedthatallmenwereequalatbirth,though

somehadmorepotential(潛能)thanothers,andthatitwasknowledgethatsetmenaparl.Socrates

focusedontheindividual,andthoughtthatthegreatestpurposeofmanwastoseekwisdom.He

believedthatsomeindividualshadmorepotentialtodeveloptheirreasonthanothersdid.Like

Confucius,hebelievedthatthesuperiorclassshouldruletheinferior(下層的)classes.

ForSocrates,thefamilywasofnoimportance,andthecommunityoflittleconcern.For

Confucius,however,thefamilywasthecentreofsociety,withfamilyrelationsconsideredmuch
