InstallationDimensions
Installationdimensionsareusedtoindicatetherequireddimensionsforinstallingtheassemblyontoafoundationorothermachinesorcomponents,essentiallydefiningtheinstallationlocation.DimensioningonAssemblyDrawingsDimensioningonAssemblyDrawings4.OverallDimensionsOveralldimensionsareusedtorepresenttheexternaloutlineoftheassembly,includingitstotallength,width,andheight.Thesedimensionsnotonlyreflectthesizeoftheassemblybutalsoprovideabasisforthespacerequiredforpackaging,transportation,andinstallationoftheassembly.DimensioningonAssemblyDrawingsDimensioningonAssemblyDrawings5.
OtherImportantDimensions
Indesign,therearealsootherimportantdimensionsdeterminedthroughcalculationsoraccordingtospecificrequirements,whichdonotfallundertheabovecategories.Examplesincludethemaximummovementpositionsofmovingparts,thecenterdistancebetweentwogears,andimportantstructuraldimensionsofmajorcomponents.PartIIComponentNumberingandItemizedPartsListonAssemblyDrawingsPARTIIComponentNumberingandItemizedPartsListonAssemblyDrawingsTofacilitatereadingtheassemblydrawing,assignuniquereferencenumberstoallpartsandcomponents.Drawthepartsdetailtableabovethetitleblockandpopulateitbylistingeachpartinthetableaccordingtoitsreferencenumberasshownonthedrawing.Fillasoliddotwithinthevisibleoutlineofthepartorcomponenttobenumbered.Fromthisdot,drawaleaderline.Attheendoftheleaderline—onitshorizontalsegment,insideacircle,oradjacenttotheline—writethereferencenumber.Thereferencenumber’sfontsizeshouldbeoneortwosizeslargerthanthatofthedimensionnumbersontheassemblydrawing.Leaderlinesandcirclesaredrawnwithfinesolidlines(seeFiguresa,b,andc).Forverythinpartsorheavilyhatchedsectionareaswhereplacingadotisimpractical,useanarrowtopointtothepart’soutline(seeFigured).Thefontsizeofthereferencenumbershouldbeonesizelargerthanthefontsizeofthedimensionnumbersontheassemblydrawing.Thefontsizeofthereferencenumbermayalsobetwosizeslargerthanthefontsizeofthedimensionnumbersontheassemblydrawing.Thefontsizeofthereferencenumbermayalsobetwosizeslargerthanthefontsizeofthedimensionnumbersontheassemblydrawing.(a)(b)(c)(d)ComponentNumberingandItemizedPartsListonAssemblyDrawings1.MethodofAnnotatingPartReferenceNumbersComponentNumberingandItemizedPartsListonAssemblyDrawings
1.MethodofAnnotatingPartReferenceNumbers
Asetoffastenersoragroupofcomponentswithclearassemblyrelationshipscanuseasharedleaderline.Allpartsandcomponentsintheassemblydrawingmustbeassignedareferencenumber.Identicalpartsandcomponentsintheassemblydrawingshouldhavethesamereferencenumberandaregenerallylabeledonlyonce.Ifthesamepartappearsmultipletimes,itmaybenecessarytorepeatthenumbering.Thereferencenumbersontheassemblydrawingshouldcorrespondwiththenumbersintheitemizedpartslist.Leaderlinesshouldnotintersect,andwhenpassingthroughcross-sectionalareas,thedirectionoftheleaderlineshouldnotbeparalleltothesectionline.Thereferencenumbershouldbeplacedoutsidethecontourlinesofthepart.Thenumberingshouldbeorganizedinaclockwiseorcounterclockwisedirection.Ifcontinuousnumberingacrosstheentiredrawingisnotpossible,numberscanbearrangedsequentiallyinhorizontalorverticaldirections.ComponentNumberingandItemizedPartsListonAssemblyDrawings2.ConsiderationsforPartNumberingThecontentoftheitemizedpartslistgenerallyconsistsofthereferencenumber,code,name,quantity,material,mass(peritem,total),andremarks,andmaybeadjustedaccordingtoactualneeds.
