Withbusinessasusual,however,wehaveliltlehopeofachievingmostofthe

Millenniumgoals,nomailerhowmuchmoneyrichcountriescontributetopoorones.C

Thesupply-drivenstrategiesoftheGreenRevolution,however,maynothelpsubsistence

farmers,whomustplaytotheirstrengthstocompeteintheglobalmarketplace.The

averagesizeofafamilyfarmislessthanfouracresinIndia,1.8acresinBangladeshand

abouthalfanacreinChina.Combinesandothermodernfanningtoolsarctooexpensive

tobeusedonsuchsmallareas.AnIndianfarmersellingsurpluswheatgrownonhisonc-

acreplotcouldnotpossiblycompetewiththehighlyefficientandsubsidisedCanadian
