第頁共頁國際電聯(lián)秘書長圖埃博士在世界電信大會英語演講稿國際電聯(lián)秘書長圖埃博士在世界電信大會英語演講稿ItisagreatpleasuretobewithyouhereinDubaitoday.LetmeoffermysincerethanksandappreciationtotheUnitedArabEmiratesforallitseffortsintheexcellentorganizationandfacilitiesforthisconference.IwouldliketoexpressmythankstothelocalauthoritiesofDubaifortheirverykindhospitality.Ladiesandgentlemen,IthinkweareallwellawareoftheimportanceofthissixthWTDC,andIamencouragedtoseesuchahighlevelofparticipation.WhatwedecideanddefinehereoverthenexttwoweekswillshapenotjustthefutureofICTdevelopmentoverthenextfouryears,butthefutureshapeoftheveryworldwelivein.Intoday’sfast-movingICTsector,fouryearsisaverylongtime.Toseehowlongthatreallyis,let’slookbackto2023,whenwelastheldtheWTDC,inHyderabad,India.SincethentheICTlandscapehaschangedinextraordinaryandunexpectedways.Wehaveseenthenumberoffixed-linesubscriptionscontinuetofall,andtherearenowaround82millionfewerfixed-linesubscriptionsthantherewereatthebeginningof2023.Thisfallinfixedlineshasbeenmassivelymorethanpensatedforbymobilegrowthoverthesameperiod–withadditionsofalmost2.2billionmobilecellularsubscriptionssincethebeginningof2023.AndthegreatnewsforthisConferenceisthatalmostallofthisgrowthhasbeeninthedevelopingworld,whichaccountedfor90%oftheadditions–veryclosetotwobillionnewmobilecellularsubscriptionshavebeenaddedinthepastfouryears.Thesamepatternistrueofthegrowthininterusers,where817millionoftheonebillionnewinterusersoverthepastfouryearshaveefromthedevelopingworld.Wehavealsoseensocialmediacontinuetoskyrocket.WhenwemetinHyderabad,fouryearsago,therewerearound30millionusersof,and400millionusersof.Todayhundredsofmillionsoftweetsaresenteveryday,andhasover1.2billionusers.Doesthatmeanourjobisfinished?Ofcoursenot!Andthat’swhywe’reallhere.Whileoverthreequartersofpeopleinthedevelopedworldnowhaveaccesstotheinter,morethantwothirdsofpeopleinthedevelopingworldstilldonot.Inthedevelopedworld,fixedandmobilebroadbandperationratesatthebeginningof2023stoodat27.2%and74.8%respectively.Inthedevelopingworld,theystoodat6.1%and19.8%.Distinguisheddelegates,Thesearepowerfulnumbers,buttheyalsodemonstratetheextraordinaryopportunitiesthatlieahead.ICTs–andinparticularbroadbandworks–offerperhapsthegreatestopportunitywehaveeverhadtomakerapidandprofoundadvancesinglobalsociala
