作者來(lái)自移民家庭，英語(yǔ)只是他的第二語(yǔ)言，寫(xiě)作是他非常頭疼的事，但老師卻安排他參加寫(xiě)作競(jìng)賽。在老師的鼓勵(lì)下，作者想到一個(gè)獨(dú)特的寫(xiě)作視角：以1775年4月18日晚馱著主人向人們傳遞英軍來(lái)犯情報(bào)的馬的角度去講述這個(gè)故事。作者理解這匹馬，因?yàn)樽髡咭灿邢嗨频男木?，這匹馬的精神鼓勵(lì)作者查閱史料，用心寫(xiě)作。終于，作者完成了作品，享受到了寫(xiě)作的快樂(lè)。續(xù)寫(xiě)思路
