文檔簡介

UnitFiveSpeechonHitler`sInvasionoftheU.S.S.R.DetailedStudyoftheText…thenewswasbroughttomeofHitler’sinvasionofRussia:awake:v.Torousefromsleep;wakenadj.Completelyconscious;notinastateofsleep.

醒著的

wake,waken和awake,awaken這兩對詞自中古英語以來就形成令人不解的一組詞。四個詞有相似的意思,盡管在用法上有差異。只有wake用于“保持清醒”的意義,如在waking(而非wakening)andsleeping,everywakinghour(清醒和睡眠,每一個醒著的時刻)。

Wake在與up一同用時也比waken更常用;并且awake和awaken從不出現(xiàn)在這種語言環(huán)境中:Shewokeup(很少用wakenedup;從不用awakenedup或awokeup)。有些作家指出waken應(yīng)只用作及物的而awaken只用作不及物的,但有很多文學(xué)上的用法先例,如Hewakenedearly(他醒得早)和Theydidnotawakenher(他們沒驚醒她)。在比喻意義上awake和awaken更普遍
