Foreword

ISO(theInternationalOrganizationforStandardization)isaworldwidefederationofnationalstandardsbodies(ISOmemberbodies).TheworkofpreparingInternationalStandardsisnormallycarriedoutthroughISOtechnicalcommittees.Eachmemberbodyinterestedinasubjectforwhichatechnicalcommitteehasbeenestablishedhastherighttoberepresentedonthatcommittee.Internationalorganizations,governmentalandnon-governmental,inliaisonwithISO,alsotakepartinthework.ISOcollaboratescloselywiththeInternationalElectrotechnicalCommission(IEC)onallmattersofelectrotechnicalstandardization.

TheproceduresusedtodevelopthisdocumentandthoseintendedforitsfurthermaintenancearedescribedintheISO/IECDirectives,Part1.InparticularthedifferentapprovalcriterianeededforthedifferenttypesofISOdocumentsshouldbenoted.ThisdocumentwasdraftedinaccordancewiththeeditorialrulesoftheISO/IECDirectives,Part2(see

Introduction

TheInternationalStandardsonfacilitymanagement(FM)developedbyISO/TC267describethecharacteristicsoffacilitymanagementandareintendedforuseinboththeprivateandpublicsectors.

NOTETheterms"facilitymanagement"and"facilitiesmanagement"canbeusedinterchangeably.

InternationalcooperationinthepreparationoftheseInternationalStandardshasidentifiedcommonpracticesthatcanbeappliedacrossawidevarietyofmarketsectors,organizationaltypes,processactivitiesandgeographies,andtheirimplementationwillhelpto:
