accompanyingpaperprovideaguidefordevelopers,learners,andeducatorstocreatepowerfullearningexperienceswithemergingtechnology.

OurFrameworkforPowerfulLearningwithEmergingTechnology,drawingfromacomprehensive

reviewofresearchandrecommendedpracticesincluding59expertinterviews,articulatespractical

designrecommendationstopositionemergingtechnologiesasaresourcethateducators,caregivers,andlearnerscanleveragetosupportlearningexperiencesanddeveloplifelongskills.Theworkisbasedonthefoundationalunderstandingthatemergingtechnologiescomplementhumanintelligenceratherthanreplaceit.

Theframeworkisgroundedinthreeprinciplesfordevelopingproductsthatenablepowerfullearning:

Introduction

TheFrameworkforPowerfulLearningwithEmergingTechnologiesprovidesdeveloperswith

recommendedactionstodesignanduseedtechtoolsinwaysthatareevidence-based,learner-centered,andskill-building.Thesethreeprinciplesprovideguidanceforemergingtechnologiestobeintegratedinwaysthatpromotepowerfullearning,enhancinglearneragency,curosity,purposeandconnection.We

recommendthatdevelopersconsiderthepracticesandstrategiesholisticallyacrossallthreeprinciples,ratherthanfocusingononeprinciple,astheconceptsaremutuallyreinforcing.Additionally,theyshouldconsiderhowedtechtoolsareimplementedwithinsystemsofeducatorsandlearners,ensuringthatthetechnologyisnotinterferingwithhumanrelationshipsorinteractionsthatpromotelearning.Byapplyingtheactionsbelow,edtechproductscanmoreeffectivelyandequitablyservelearners.
