I think the experience like this made her write the book Gone with the Wind finally. Gone wi

3、th the wind is often considerded as the most popular, enduring and moving work not only of that time but of all time. Sidney Howards script was derived from Margaret Mitchells first and only published, best-selling Civia War and Reconstruction Period novel of 1.037 pages that first appeared in 1936,

4、 but was mostly written Mitchells novel in July, 1939 for $ 50,000- a record amount at the time to an unknown author for her first novel, causing some to label the film “Selznicks Folly”. At the time of the films release, the fictional book had sold more than 1.5 million copies. When the novel was f

5、ilmed and aired on television, more records were set in two parts in late 1976, and controversy arose when it was restored and released theatrically in 1998.Gone with the Wind is one of the most famous romantic novels. The novel is set in the time of the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1865 when th

6、e Southern plantation owners fought against the northern Yankees for the right to own slaves. When the Southern plantation lost the war, they suffered from great losses of life in the process, and the romantic plantation life depicted in the early chapters of the novel is utterly destroyed. 7、of the novelScarlett is a stubborn, headstrong and worldly lady, whose extraordinary beauty attractes lots of people and almost every young guys liked her very much and wanted to marry her. She lived in a wealthy manor home. Her mother has french family in the blood, asked her to abide by all femini

8、st tradition. Her father was an outbreak of Irish immigrants, and he wanted her to close to any one of the rich young men and get married to one of them. In the beginning of the book, one cannot like Scarlett deeply because her beauty. However, Scarlett was attracted by Ashley Wilkeswho behaved gent

9、ly to others and won a great reputation at the region they lived in. Scarlett thought Ashley liked her, but unfortunately in the party, he told people the message that he wanted to marry to his cousinMelanie Hamilton, which made Scarlett felt very sad and heartbroken. Scarlett wanted to ask Ashley w

10、hether he love her or not. When she knowed the truth that Ashely indeed decides to marry Melanie, Scarlett cried. The whole process was saw by Rhett Butler, who had the reputation as a rogue. As the Civil War began, Scarlett accepted a proposal of marriage from Melanies brother, Charles Hamilton as

11、a revenge to the man who hurted he. Later on when the guns of war come close around the country, some young peolpl, including Scarletts husband and Ashley, joined the army. Two months later, Scarlett received a letter that Charles died of phenomena, followed by the measles. Scarlett had to wear mour

12、ning clothes, mourning for her husband thought she did not love him, and not go to parties, or at least not have any fun at parties. Everyone thought that when she wept, it was for Charlie, but indeed it was for herself. At one of the parties, other ladies beautifully colored dresses make Scarlett e

13、nvious. Comparing it to her own, she wished she could dance like the others and have fun like others. Then, Rhett was introduced as the hero and he came to collect the jewelry, saying that they will be melted and used to buy more medicine for the woulded soldiers who injuried from the war. Scarlett

14、hesitated for a while and took off Charlies wedding ring, and put it in the basket. Melly saw, and was touched, and took off her wedding ring too, saying it will help Ashley more off her finger. Rhett looked at Scarlett and knew that Charlie was nothing to her. At the time of final dance, theorily S

15、carlett was impossible to dance, but when Rhett put up a great sum for Scarlett, Scarlett said “Yes, I will”. Alough people talked and gossiped about the her behaviour a lot, but Scarlett didnt mind. After the war, Scarlett inherited Tara and managed to keep the place going. When Scarlett couldnt ge

16、t money from Rhett to pay the taxes on Tara, she married her sisters fiance Frank Kennedy, and took control of his business. The successful business made many Atlantans resented her. Frank was killed when he and other Ku Klux Klan members raid a shanty town where Scarlet was assaulted while driving

17、alone. Remorseful after Franks death, Scarlett finally married Rhett, who was aware of her passion for Ashley but still hoped that one day she would at last come to love him. Scarlett was an apple in the eyes of Rhett. Not long afterwards, they got a little girl, who was a pretty little baby and the

18、y called her Bonnie. Bonnie grew up like her mother, and Rhett loved her and spoiled her as he would have spoiled Scarlett. He wanted a place in the society for his darling little girl, so he started to talk to people all friendly until all his bad reputation drained away, and he became as respectab

19、le as ever. He didnt care if all this made Scarlett seem worse than ever in their neighbors minds. Scarlett was soon jealous of the attention Rhett was giving Bonnie and every night she went downstairs and drank secretly. All of these made Rhett very hurt. By accident, Bonnie was dead, which damaged

20、 both Scarlett and Rhett and they needed a time to recover. Melanie died. Ashley was outside, and he told her that the one he loved was Melanie, not her. Scarlett was angry, for she had thought that Ashley loved her all these yearsAs Scarlett was running back, it was like her nightmare. The fog was

21、thick, but now she knew what she wanted is Rhett. When she got back home and told him that she loved him, but Rhett didnt believe her and ran away. Scarlett didnt know what to do, so she started back towards her home, Tara, and said that there wasnt a man she couldnt get back when she wanted, and th

22、at she wont think about it now, for that would make her feel very sad, she would think about it tomorrow.Main characters in the novelThe main characters in the story are Melanie, Ashley, Scarlett, and Rhett. In this novel, these characters underwent the transition from a carefree playful life of pic

23、nics and parties to one of hand-to-mouth living and hard physical labour, and finally, back to prosperity.Melanie saw good in everyone and even at thief or murderer could get her sympathy. She was a kind, sympathetic, lovable woman. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her back. Though she is weak

24、 outside, inside her is a glow that is very powerful. I liked Melanie, but I didt want to become her because she lacked challenge in her character and her life lacked freshness.Ashley was weak, I mean weak both inside and outside, so he needed Melanie to help him through things. Alought at the begin

25、ning of the novel, he behaved like a gentleman . But I didnt like him because when met with difficulties, he didnt did to face it. Maybe he was full of knowledge, he maybe read lots of books, but he was short of some spirits, like courage, boldness, flexibility. After reading the novel, I was deeply

26、 impressed by Scarlett s bravery and strong will, Rhetts witness, and his love to Scarlett.As far as Scarlett, not every people loved her. Indeed her character is very imcompatible. To some extent, she was hopelessly selfish, vain, deluded and foolish, but she was also an extremely active, loyal and

27、 strong character who can be relied upon to say and do just exactly what she thinks, regardless of the impact on other people. Again and again through the novel you could find that when something you except Scarlett dont do, but you know she was going to do it anyway. She had a strong character. She

28、 loved two men in all her life, but she did not get what she want in love. I was seriously sorry for her. She always pursued her love, never knowing the person who loved her and she loved deeply was by her side. When she realized that, its too late. At the last, she said “ Tomorrow is another day.”

She had to survive from the poverty and hunger. She, facing lots of difficulties, shouted to the God “ I swear I and my family will

After reading the novel, what can we learn from the main characters?In Scarlets time, it was mens world, and what women could do was accept such as the beliefs that men owned the property, while women manage it. At that time all men felt tha

39、t the wife should be guided by her husbands knowledge, accept his opinions fully and have none of her own. Men took the reputation for the management, and women praised his cleverness. Men roared like a bull when a splinter was in his finger, and the women muffled the moans of childbirth, least she

Scarlet intended to run the mill herself and finally she gain a great success which was a big shock to not only her husband but als

But she finally won the heart of Ashley, who Scarlett want to marry to. Nowadays we also can learn a lot from Melanie to become a

46、 good housewife, a good wife and a competent mother. Melanie didnt not have a good appearance but her soft and warm-hearted won her a good reputation. She was loyalty to her husband. Her husband was everything to her. When she gave the birth to her first little baby, she beat all pains and terrors.

47、When a doctor told her that it was dangerous for her to pregnant and told her not better to pregnant again, Melanie didnt follow the doctors advice and when she gave birth to her second baby, she died. Although the novel didnt gave Melanie a happy ending, but her family was a good one. Her husband l
