委婉英語表達方法學(xué)習學(xué)習 2009-10-15 11:14:17 閱讀377 評論1 字號：大中小訂閱 在 每 一 個 民 族 的 語 言 里 ， 或 多 或 少 有 些 關(guān) 于 更 禮 貌 更 客 氣 的 表 達 方 法 ， 也 就 是 委 婉 語 氣 表 達 （ overtone of politeness） 。 西 方 人 的 委 婉 更 是 出 了 名 的 ， 英 語 學(xué) 習 者 經(jīng) 過 長 期 的 英 語 學(xué) 習 和 研 究 不 難 發(fā) 現(xiàn) 英 語 中 有 許 多 婉 轉(zhuǎn) 口 氣 的 表 達 法 ， 它 使 聽 話 者 覺 得 說 話 者 更 有 涵 養(yǎng) 或 更 容 易 接 受 其 內(nèi) 容 ， 也 使 自 己 顯 得 更 有 教 養(yǎng) 。 那 么 如 何 講 有 禮 貌 的 英 語 呢 ？ 下 面 就 用 一 些 例 子 對 此 做 一 些 闡 述 。1 有 關(guān) 請 求 和 命 令 的 婉 轉(zhuǎn) 說 法這 一 類 言 語 行 為 在 不 同 程 度 上 具 有 冒 犯 性 ， 因 此 需 要 用 禮 貌 的 話 把 它 淡 化 和 緩 解 。 試 比 較 ： Pass the water.(不 禮 貌 ) Pass the water, please.（ 使 對 方 容 易 接 受 。 ） Would you pass the water?（ 試 探 受 話 人 是 否 樂 意 ） Could your possibly pass the water?（ 詢 問 受 話 人 是 否 有 做 某 事 的 可 能 性 ， 很 客 氣 ） I would be extremely grateful if your would pass the water.（ 假 設(shè) 語 氣 陳 述 句 ， 很 有 禮 貌 ） I wonder if you would be good enough to pass the water.（ 假 設(shè) 語 氣 ， 很 委 婉 ）受 話 人 如 何 給 對 方 答 復(fù) ， 現(xiàn) 分 肯 定 回 答 和 否 定 回 答 來 研 究 。肯 定 回 答 ： 按 禮 貌 程 度 由 低 到 高 排 列 。 O.K. Its time you had a holiday. I wish you lived closer to us. If only you lent your book to me. Im hoping youll give us some advice. Im wondering if I may have a word with you. I was wondering /wondered if youd like to come out with me one evening. I was hoping / hoped you could send me some books.上 面 所 舉 例 子 實 際 上 都 可 以 用 一 般 現(xiàn) 在 時 來 代 替 ， 但 是 就 不 如 用 一 般 過 去 時 ； 現(xiàn) 在 進 行 時 或 過 去 進 行 時 委 婉 。 如 ：I was wondering whether you could help me do something on our wedding.這 是 一 句 非 常 禮 貌 的 話 ， 比 “ Could you help me do something on our wedding?要 客 氣 得 多 。 它 用 的 是 過 去 進 行 時 ， 表 達 的 意 思 卻 是 現(xiàn) 在 。 這 句 話 可 以 翻 譯 成 ： “ 不 知 能 否 勞 駕 您 在 我 們 婚 禮 上 幫 我 做 點 事 情 ？ ”如 果 我 們 沿 用 傳 統(tǒng) 的 時 態(tài) 概 念 ， 把 這 句 話 改 成 后 者 ， 那 么 ， 整 句 話 的 語 氣 大 變 ， 顯 得 生 硬 。 更 遭 的 是 ， 句 子 產(chǎn) 生 了 兩 種 負 面 意 義 ： 我 不 知 道 你 幫 不 幫 我 做 這 件 事 ； 對 你 否 幫 我 做 這 事 ， 我 持 懷 疑 態(tài) 度 。 而 用 過 去 進 行 時 ， 則 不 會 產(chǎn) 生 以 上 錯 誤 理 解 。4.2 一 些 情 態(tài) 動 詞 或 其 他 動 詞 的 過 去 時 也 用 來 表 示 委 婉 語 氣 ， 實 際 上 是 虛 擬 語 氣 ， 表 假 設(shè) 、 愿 望 、 建 議 、 猜 測 、 懷 疑 而 已 。 而 沒 有 時 間 上 的 差 別 ， 如 ： She might （may）have missed the train.（ 既 是 虛 擬 語 氣 ， 也 表 委 婉 ） 。 We might all have been indulging in an illusion. It might be an idea to try this one again. I would (will)suggest you copied this out again. Sally couldnt love him. It would be better if you wrote in ink. Youd(You had(have) better be careful next time. Id rather you finished this off before Friday. Id rather you didnt look at the answer or ask others for help. This handbag could be Marys. A: Could/might I smoke here?B: Yes, of course you can. /No, Im afraid not. Should I turn off the light? What should we do next? I should say he is just the right man for this job. We would reduce our price rather than lose the business.假 如 上 面 例 子 的 時 態(tài) 變 成 現(xiàn) 在 時 的 話 ， 意 思 雖 然 沒 變 ， 但 語 氣 就 不 如 用 用 過 去 式 婉 轉(zhuǎn) 。 這 就 需 要 多 模 仿 例 句 ， 而 不 必 過 多 地 考 慮 語 法 。 例 如 ： Can you tell me how to get to the library?Could you tell me how to get to the library?(更 委 婉 ) Will you please come and help me make up the missing class?Would you please come and help me make up the missing class?(更 委 婉 )當 然 這 些 詞 的 過 去 式 在 一 定 的 上 下 文 當 中 還 是 有 時 間 差 別 的 ， 這 里 就 不 多 舉 例 了 。英 語 的 婉 轉(zhuǎn) 語 氣 表 達 還 可 借 用 其 他 許 多 方 式 ， 還 讓 我 們 在 學(xué) 習 中 多 多 體 會 和 積 累 。 最 后 以 一 段 關(guān) 于 一 郵 遞 員 將 一 份 有 關(guān) 兒 子 陣 亡 的 電 報 送 與 一 位 母 親 的 委 婉 勸 慰 來 減 少 它 對 這 位 母 親 的 打 擊 的 幾 句 話 結(jié) 束 此 文 ?！?Your son is dead. Maybe it s a mistake. Everybody makes a mistake, Mrs. Sandoval. Maybe it wasn t your son. Maybe it was somebody else. The telegram says it was Juan Domingo. But maybe the telegram is wrong.” 這 兒 你 感 覺 到 maybe一 詞 在 語 氣 上 的 婉 轉(zhuǎn) 了 嗎 ？英語交際中，為了使對方能愉快地接受自己的請求、建議、命令、警告等，往往要用委婉語氣,尤其在口語中。現(xiàn)將常見的表達方法薈萃如下： 一、用“Will you.?”提出請求等 (1) Will you (please) lend me some writing paper? 請借給我一些信紙好嗎？ (2) Wont you sit down and have some whisky? 要不要坐下來喝點兒威士忌? 二、用would開頭的句式提出請求 1. Would you (please/kindly). ? (1) I didnt quite catch your name. Would you spell it, please? 我沒聽清你的名字，請拼一下好嗎？ (2) Would you kindly drive me home?你能不能開車送我回家？ 2. Would it be possible /too much (for me)to.? (1) Would it be possible for me to take three days off next month? 我可不可以在下個月請三天假？ (2) Would it be too much to ask you to look after my baby for a moment? 你可以幫我看一會兒孩子嗎？ 3. Would you be kind/good enough to /so kind as to.? (1) Would you be kind/good enough to meet us at the port? 麻煩你到機場接我們好嗎？ (2) Would you be so kind as to keep me informed? 請隨時告訴我一些情況好嗎？ 4. Would you mind (my) doing.? Would you mind my turning down the volume of the television? 你不介意我把電視聲音關(guān)小點兒吧? 5. Would you mind if I .? Would you mind if I asked you a question? 我可以問你一個問題嗎？ 三、用“I wonder /Im wondering/I was wondering if/whether .”提出請求 (1) I wonder if I could have a word with you right now. 不知道我可不可以現(xiàn)在和你說幾句話。 (2) Im wondering if youd guide me in my studies. 不知您可否愿意指導(dǎo)我做研究。 (3) I was wondering whether you would care to spend the weekend with us. 不知你是否愿意和我們一起度周末。四、用“If you will do.”從句（will表示意愿）提出請求 (1) If youll just sign here, Ill cash you the check. 請在這里簽個字，我給你對現(xiàn)金。 (2) If you will excuse me for a few minutes, Ill go and tell the manager that you are here.請允許我離開一下，我去告訴經(jīng)理你來了。五、用帶just/kindly/please的祈使句或“祈使句+will you/wont you/can you/ could you?” 命令或請求 (1) Just drop me off at the airport. Its not necessary to see me off. 到機場讓我下車就行,不必送我起飛了。 (2) Get some chalk quickly, will you?快拿點粉筆來好嗎？ (3) Please give my love to your parents and Kate, wont you? 請代我向你父母和凱特問好好嗎？ 六、用虛擬語氣 提出請求或建議 （表示說話人的主觀愿望或假想，所說的是一個條件，不一定是事實，或與事實相反。）(1) It would be best if you could have translated this article today. 如果你能今天將這篇文章譯完,那就太好了。 (2) What preposition would you advise me to use? 你看我用哪個介詞好？ (3) If I were you /in your position, I would say good-bye to her. 如果我是你，我就和她分手了。 (4) Since it has cleared up, we might as well walk. 天已放晴，我們步行去吧。七、用wish/hope 提出請求、建議等 (1) I wish you dont make so much noise here. 希望你們別在這兒吵鬧。 (2) I hope you dont mind my asking, but I wonder if you could account this plan? 希望您別介意，不知道您能否就這個計劃作一完整說明。 (3) Were hoping your son will get married earlier. 我們希望你兒子早日完婚。 八、用maybe/perhaps 提出建議、請求或表示反駁、反對等 (1) Maybe we should buy some more cheese. 也許我們該多買些奶酪。 (2) Maybe you could phone me tonight. 或許 你可在晚上給我打電話。 (3) “What a long film!”“Well, maybe, but I found it interesting.”“這部電影好長啊!”“也許是吧，但我覺得很有趣?！?(4) Perhaps theres another side of the question. 也許這個問題還有另一方面的情況吧！ 九、用一般過去時代替一般現(xiàn)在時、過去進行時代替現(xiàn)在進行時、進行時代替一般時 提出請求或詢問看法等 (1) Im sorry to trouble you. Could you check these figures for me? 對不起要麻煩你一下，給我核對一下這些數(shù)字行嗎？ (2) How did you like the TV series? 你覺得這部電視連續(xù)劇怎么樣？ (3) I was calling about the open ceremony tomorrow, Mr Hill. 希爾先生，我打電話給您想問一下明天開業(yè)典禮的事。 (4) Well be expecting you for our concert, Professor Brown. 布朗教授，我們等您來參加我們的音樂會。 十、shall用于第一人稱和第三人稱，構(gòu)成疑問句，提出建議或征求對方意見 (1) Shall we go to the concert tonight? 我們今晚去聽音樂會好嗎？ (2) Shall she come at once? 要她馬上來嗎？ 十一、用would, should, could, might表示看法、提出建議或忠告等 (1) It would seem that something is wrong with the truck. 看來這部卡車出毛病了。 (2) There might/could have been an accident in the street.街上可能出事故了。 (3) I should /would have thought she isnt so careless. 我本以為她不至于那么粗心。 (4) We should start out earlier tomorrow. 明天我們得早點出發(fā)。 (5) You have a slight fever. I could go out to buy you some medicine. 你有點兒發(fā)燒，我可以幫你買些藥。 (6) You might invite him to attend your wedding. 你不妨請他參加你們的婚禮。 (7) Wouldnt it be a good idea to cut down your drinking? 你少喝點兒酒不是個好辦法嗎? 十二、用“Lets.,OK/ shall/ shant we?”提出建議 (1) Lets discuss this problem at next meeting, OK/ shall we? 我們下次會議再討論這一問題好嗎？ (2) Lets go upstairs to the Ladies Wear Department, shall/shant we? 咱們到樓上女子服裝部去好嗎？ 十三、用“Have you thought of/ considered doing.?”提出建議 (1) Have you thought of/ considered buying a new house? 你考慮過買套新房子嗎？ (2) I hope you dont mind me saying this, but have you thought of /considered giving up drinking? 我希望你不介意我這樣說，但你考慮過戒酒嗎？ 十、用if/unless引導(dǎo)的條件句提出警告 (1) If you give up the chance to further your studies abroad, you will regret it. 如果你放棄這次出國進修的機會，你會后悔的。 (2) If you dont make notes in class, you wont pass the examination. 如果你們上課不做筆記,考試就不會及格。 (3) Youll be late for the meeting unless you hurry. 你要是不快點兒，就不能按時參加會議了。 十三、用“祈使句+or/or else/otherwise引導(dǎo)的分句”提出警告 (1) Redouble your efforts or (else) you wont succeed. 加倍努力，不然你是不會成功的。 (2) Dont let the wires touch. Otherwise youll kill yourself. 別讓電線挨著，否則你就沒命了。 二十、用成語、典故或諺語 陳述事實、提出勸告等 (1) Mr Smith is head and ears in debt. 史密斯先生背了一身債。 (2) Jane took French leave the day before yesterday. 簡前天不辭而別。 (3) After seven straight victories the team met its Waterloo. 這只球隊連勝七場后殘敗。 (4) Opportunity seldom knocks twice. 機不可失，時不再來。 十二、用“Hadnt you better.?”表示勸告 Hadnt you better stop smoking here? 你是不是最好別在這里抽煙？ 十四、用肯定句代替否定句 表示看法、責難或忠告等 (1) All music is alike to John. 約翰毫無音樂鑒賞能力。 (2) When I want your opinion, Ill ask for you. 需要征求你的意見時，我會問你的。(請勿插嘴。) (3) There are pickpockets
