ZhangTiantravelledtothevillagewithaneagerheart.Heimaginedallsortsofexcitingthingsaboutlivingindependentlyandteachinginavillage.

However,noteverythingliveduptoZhangTian'shopes.Theschoolwasmuchsmallerthanhehadexpected,withonlythreeclassrooms.Infrontoftheclassrooms,therewasaplaygroundwhichgotdustyonwindydaysandmuddyonrainydays.Livinginthevillagewasalsomorechallengingthanhehadthought.Thepowerandwatersupplieswereunstable,sohecouldonlyshowereverythreeorfourdays,andhehadtolearnhowtocook.Thethoughtofleavingonceflashedthroughhismind,buthequicklygaveupontheideaandfoundwaystodealwiththechallenges.

TheschoolhadjustthreeteachersandZhangTianwastheonlyEnglishteacher.TheothertwolocalteacherswereresponsibleformathsandChinese.Tomakeschoollifehealthierandlivelierforhisstudents,
