whenhefoundgreatsuccesswriting
articlesformagazines.Thisledtohimwritinghisfirstnovel,TheTimeMachine,in1895.HewentontowritemanyReadingLearnthebackgroundofthetextwewillread.othersuccessfulstoriesandnovels,includingTheWaroftheWorlds,TheInvisibleMan,andTheIslandofDoctorMoreau.TherehadbeenmanywritersbeforeWellswhowrotefantasticalstoriesofscientificadvances.Wells’contributionwastheideathatallofthedetailsinthestoryshouldbeascloselygroundedinrealityaspossible,withtheexceptionofoneelementwhichwasfantastical.Byhavingeverythingelsegroundedinreality,audiencesaremorewillingtoacceptthefantasticalelementastrue.Thisphilosophyisbehindmuchofsciencefictiontoday,wherebyeverythinginastorymustbepossibleaccordingtotheLawsofPhysics(paredtosciencefantasy,wheretheLawsofPhysicsusuallydonotapply).Wellswroteinanumberofdifferentgenresbesidessciencefictionandwasenormouslypopularandsuccessful.Lookatthetitleandpictures.Thenpredictwhatthetextwilltalkabout.A.
