humansdo,bytakingactionsontheirbehalf,inpursuitofprescribedbusinessoutcomes.AgentsmayloopinGenAItoolsandothersourcesof

dataandinsights,withthepotentialtodeliversignificantlymorebusinessvalue.

Whilestillemergingandevolving,AIagentscanalreadytakeonhumantasksthatwerepreviouslythoughttoocomplextoautomate,andtheymaybeabetterchoiceforsomeactivitiespreviouslyautomatedwitholderAItools.Hence,most

companiesinourlatestquarterlypulsesurvey

arealreadypilotingAIagents(65percent),

andthenumberhasalmostdoubledinthree

months(upfrom37percentlastquarter).1Sofar,however,only11percenthaveputagentsinto

production,although99percentplantodoso.2

timesmorecapableinsixmonths,andsixteentimesmorepowerfulinayear.Thiswillenablethemtomovefromautomatinghumantaskstoautomatinghumanroles,creatinganentirelynewtalentpoolof“digital

co-workers.”

Agentsarealsoincreasinglycapableofcommunicatingandcollaboratingwitheachother,furtheramplifying

theirbusinessutility.Bytakingonaseriesofcomplextasksasagroup,“swarms”3ofagentswithdifferentskillsmayeventuallyautomateentirebusiness

processesendtoend.Onceautomated,agentscanautonomouslyre-engineer,andcontinuouslyimprove,theseprocesses.Thismulti-layeredapproachcan

unlocknewlevelsofoperationalperformanceand

opentheapertureforreimaginingentirebusiness

models.Atthesametime,risksarehigherandmustbecarefullymanagedtoensurevalueisunlocked

workersmayinitiallybesmallbutcangrowrapidly

andflexupanddownwithdemandalmostinstantly.Thiswillallowhumanworkerstofocustheirtimeonthemostproductive,complex,andstimulatingtasks,whilelearningtoworkseamlesslywithagentsin

Thesizeoftheprizeforthosegettingitrightcouldbeastounding.ProjectionsfromIDCindicatethat,overthenext10years,generativeAIalonewill

addnearly$10trilliontotheglobalGDP.4ThevaluepotentialforagenticAIpromisestobeexponentiallyhigher:KPMGestimatesthatagenticAIwillbekeytounlockingastaggering$3trillionincorporate

EBITDAannuallyinlaborproductivityalonefor

findingisechoedbymanyindustryanalysts.For

example,accordingtoarecentstudyfromIDC,

organizationsadoptingagenticAIcanachievean18percentimprovementinemployeeproductivityandsatisfaction.6

Theirresearchfindsthatforevery$1acompanyinvestsinAI,itcanrealizean
