(P17)amount n. 通常用amount of sth“數(shù)量;數(shù)額”,一般修飾不可數(shù)名詞,作主語(yǔ)時(shí)謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式。 eg: The amount of the money that he has wasted is about $10,000.a large amount of與a large number of都可表示“大量的

2、”,但前者修飾不可數(shù)名詞;而后者修飾可數(shù)名詞,作主語(yǔ)時(shí)謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)。eg: In fact, a large amount of fresh water is wasted. A large number of issues have been raised at the meeting.2. Permit me to lead the way, sir. (P17)permit (1) vt. “允許;許可”,后接名詞或代詞;接動(dòng)詞時(shí)要用動(dòng)詞ing形式,即permit doing sth;其后接復(fù)合賓語(yǔ)時(shí),要用permit sb to do sth,表示“允許某人做某事”。eg: The

(P22) even if = even though“即使,盡管”,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句,常指把握性不大或假設(shè)的情況,從句中要用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)來表示將要發(fā)生的動(dòng)作。 as though = as if意為“似乎,好像”,既可以引導(dǎo)方式狀語(yǔ)從句,也可引導(dǎo)表

13、語(yǔ)從句,從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞常用虛擬語(yǔ)氣。as though / if后面除了可以跟句子外,還可跟動(dòng)詞不定式、形容詞、介詞短語(yǔ)和分詞。eg: If a pencil is partly put into the water it looks as if it were broken.The man we followed suddenly stopped and looked as if to see whether he was going in the right direction. 6. bring up “撫養(yǎng);培養(yǎng);教育;提出” eg: He was brought up by his

14、 grandmother because both his parents worked in another city. Although brought up in a big city, Jack prefers to live a simple and peaceful life in the countryside. 熱點(diǎn)語(yǔ)法:名詞性從句 表語(yǔ)從句和賓語(yǔ)從句名詞性從句是指在復(fù)合句中的作用相當(dāng)于名詞,分別作主語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)、賓語(yǔ)和同位語(yǔ),即名詞性從句包括主語(yǔ)從句、表語(yǔ)從句、賓語(yǔ)從句和同位語(yǔ)從句。連接詞的選用是考查的重點(diǎn),that只起連結(jié)作用,在從句中不作任何成分;if 和whether有詞義

15、;連接代詞在從句中做主語(yǔ)、賓語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ);連接副詞在從句中作狀語(yǔ)。eg: I wonder what has happened to him.There is no doubt that the earth is becoming warmer and warmer year by year. When he will come back is not known.Why not tell me where we shall discuss our plan?1. 表語(yǔ)從句That is why weve given you the letter. (P18)why是連接副詞,引導(dǎo)表語(yǔ)從句,是名詞

16、性從句中的一種。why在表語(yǔ)從句中作邏輯上的原因狀語(yǔ)。eg: This is why he was absent from the meeting. 2. 賓語(yǔ)從句I wonder, Mr Adams, if you mind us asking a few questions. (P18)I wonder if / whether 是表示委婉請(qǐng)求的語(yǔ)句,通常比較正式。if引導(dǎo)的句子作wonder的賓語(yǔ)從句。注意:1) 如果賓語(yǔ)從句為陳述句,連接詞用that;賓語(yǔ)從句為一般疑問句,連接詞用if或whether;賓語(yǔ)從句為特殊疑問句,連接詞用原疑問詞。eg: I hope (that) you

17、will write to me as soon as possible.He asked me if(whether) I would go to Beijing by air.I am interested in what you are doing now.2) 無論原句是陳述句、一般疑問句還是特殊疑問句,在賓語(yǔ)從句中一律使用陳述句語(yǔ)序。eg: The teacher asked if you had finished your homework. Can you tell us when the sports meeting will begin? 3) 主句是一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),賓語(yǔ)從句可以

18、是任何所需要的時(shí)態(tài);主句是一般過去時(shí),賓語(yǔ)從句要用與其相應(yīng)的過去的某種時(shí)態(tài)。eg: I hear a new restaurant will be opened in the city next month.She told us she had borrowed the book from the library.注:當(dāng)賓語(yǔ)從句表示的是一個(gè)真理或一個(gè)永久性的事實(shí)時(shí),其時(shí)態(tài)可不受主句時(shí)態(tài)的限制,仍用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。eg: The teacher said millions of other stars are even bigger and brighter than the sun.語(yǔ)法專練:1
