Dropping7%from2019,creditcardsremainedtheleadinge-commercepaymentmethodamongNorthAmericanconsumers,accountingfor32%of2020payments.CreditcardsarestillthechoiceforCanadiansshoppingonline,accountingfor54.9%of2020transactionvolume,downfrom60%in2019.CreditcardsmaintainedaslimmerleadintheU.S.justaheadofmobile/digitalwallets,makingup30.4%of2020onlinepayments.Theshiftawayfromcreditisdrivenbythepandemicasfearsofarecessionandunemploymentcontinuetogrow.OtherpaymentmethodsgainingashareofNorthAmericane-commercespendin2020aredebitcards,digitalwalletsandBNPL.Debitcardsrose14.2%from2019toaccountfor20.1%of2020e-commercespend.Digitalwalletscontinuedtoaccelerategrowththroughthepandemic,risingover23.6%from23.7%in2019to29.3%of2020e-comspend.Buynow,paylaterservicesmadethebiggestpercentageleapin2020,risingnearly78%toaccountfor1.6%ofe-comspend.Chargecards,cashondeliveryandpre-paidservicesa
