HenryDavidThoreau(1817-1862)wasanAmericanessayist,poet,andphilosopher.Hebeganwritingnaturepoetryinhisearlytwenties,withpoetRalphWaldoEmersonasamentorandfriend.In1845,hebeganhisfamoustwo-yearstayatWaldenPond,whichhewroteaboutinhismasterwork,Walden.

BornintoapooraristocraticfamilyintheEasternJinDynasty,TaoYuanming(365-427)wasoneofChina`sgreatestpoetsandanotedrecluse.Amasterofthefive-wordline,Taohasbeendescribedasthefirstgreat“poetoffieldsandgardens.”
