IntroductionWiththerapiddevelopmentofscienceandtechnology,internationalaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyexchangesandcooperationareincreasinglyfrequent,aswellastheemergingresearchresultsofaviationscienceandtechnologyathomeandabroad,theimportanceofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtranslationisincreasinglyprominent.Asthecoretheoryoffunctionalism,SkopostheoryplaysanimportantroleinguidingthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish.BasedonthecharacteristicsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish,thispaperdiscussesthetranslationstrategiesofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishfromtheperspectiveofSkopostheory.Aerospaceistheproductofhumanexpansionoftheatmosphereandspace.Therapiddevelopmentofthepasthundredyearshasbecomethemostactiveandinfluentialinthe21stcentury.Inthefieldofscienceandtechnology,thegreatachievementsmadeinthisfieldmarkthehighdevelopmentofhumancivilizationandtheadvancedlevelofscienceandtechnologyinacountry.Nowadays,allcountriesarevigorouslydevelopingaerospacetechnology.Thefieldofaerospaceisdevelopingrapidly,andalargenumberofEnglishtermsareemergingdaybyday.Thedevelopmentofscienceandtechnologyiscloselyrelatedtotheflourishinghistoryofterminology.Thispapermainlydiscussestheliteraturereview,thetheoreticalframeworkandtheapplicationofSkoposTheoryinaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish.ThefirstpartincludesResearchonEnglishtranslationofaviationscienceandtechnologyathomeandabroad,andProgressinSkoposTheoryoftranslationtwoparts.Thesecondpartdescribesthetheoreticalframework.FromtheoverviewofSkoposTheorytothecharacteristicsofSkopostranslation.Thischapterismainlyaboutthein-depthstudyandunderstandingofSkopostheory,inordertobettercombineitwiththeEnglishtranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnology.ThethirdpartistheapplicationofSkoposTheoryinthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish.Nowadays,mostoftheaeronauticalEnglishtranslationpapersdiscusssometranslationtechniquesandprinciplesorsomespecificterms,butfewofthemfocusonthecombinationofAeronauticsandtechnology.ThroughlinkSkopostheorywithEnglishtranslationofaviationscienceandtechnology,andcarryoutatargetedresearchinthehopeofenrichingtheapplicationofSkoposTheoryinaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglishinthefuture.Therefore,thisarticleisanarticlecreatedthroughrepeateddeliberationandprocessing.ChapterOneLiteratureReviewOnthebasisofalargenumberofreadingdocuments,thispaperwillstartwithsomedocumentstosummarizetheextentofpreviousresearchontranslationmethodsofaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglish,thatis,thestatusquo.Thenfindtheirowninnovationpoint,carryoutamorein-depthstudy.Sothispaperwillstartwiththecurrentsituationofdomesticandforeignliteratureresearch,andcarriedoutthefollowingresearch.1.1DomesticresearchonaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishterminologyWiththerapiddevelopmentofglobalization,theimportanceofaeronauticaltechnologyEnglishtranslationhasbecomeincreasinglyprominent.ThecurrentsituationofscientificEnglishresearchisthatscientificEnglishisdevelopingrapidly,butbecausethelevelofscientificEnglishtranslationiscloselyrelatedtoitsownprofessionalknowledge,foreignlanguagelevelandotherfactors,thereareoftensemanticerrors,grammaticalerrorsandlogicerrorsintheprocessoftranslation,andthemeaningtoexpressisnotclear.Therefore,manytranslatorsofaeronauticalEnglishusetranslationsoftwaretotranslate,whichislackofprofessionalaccuracy.Therefore,translatorsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishshouldpayattentiontoaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishreading,translationtheoryandskillstraining,andimprovetheirownflexibilityandstrengthwhileusingnetworkresources.Atpresent,mostofthepapersonthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishinChinaareaboutsometranslationtechniquesandprinciplesorsomespecificterms,butfewpapersfocusonaspecificfield,andnopapersfocusonthetranslationmethodsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishfromtheperspectiveofSkopostheory.Sofar,thereareonlysixrelatedpapers:aeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtranslationskillsandsentenceanalysis,civilaviationEnglishvocabularycompositionandtranslation,aviationEnglishwordformationcharacteristicsandtranslation,modernaviationEnglishwordformationcharacteristicsanddevelopmenttrendanalysis,aviationEnglishterminologytranslationresearch,aviationEnglishtranslationcourseteachingpracticeresearch(SunJiawei,2018).Thesepapersonlyintroducethestructureandtranslationofaerospacevocabulary.Functionalismisoneofthemostinfluentialtranslationtheoriesintheworld.ItscoretheoryteleologyhasbeenintroducedintoChinaandhasbeenhighlyvaluedbydomestictranslationscholars.TheresearchofteleologyinChinaiscomprehensive,whichplaysanimportantroleinthedisseminationofteleologyinChina.However,inordertounderstandSkopostheorymorecomprehensivelyanddeeplyandrealize“Sinicization”,furtherresearchandthinkingareneeded.Firstofall,manyresearchesinourcountryequateteleologyandfunctionalismteleologyindiscriminately.Infact,theverticalevolutionofthetwoisdifferent,“teleology”isfarahead.Thisalsoshowsthattheoreticalresearchisnotin-depth.Second,itcanbeseenfromtheanalysisresultsthatalthoughthenumberofrelevantarticleshasbeenincreasinginthepastfiveyears,thenumberofarticlesintheappliedtranslationresearchcategoryisfarmorethanthatinthepuretheoreticalresearchcategory.Therearemanystudiesontranslationstrategies,butfewontranslationcriticism,translationtheoryandtranslationteaching.Thirdly,mostoftheexistingdomesticarticlesonSkoposTheoryoftranslationhavebeenstudiedrepeatedlyonthesameachievement,lackingin-depththinkingandinnovation.Tosumup,thereisnoapplicationofSkopostranslationmethodintheresearchofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtranslationmethod.Itispreciselybecausethereisnoin-depthstudyonthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishfromtheperspectiveofSkoposinChina.Therefore,afterreadingalotofarticlesontranslationmethodsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish,tocombinethemorganicallywithmyownstudyofSkopostranslationmethods.Hopingthatthroughin-depthresearchandlearningcanlearnmoreknowledgeandenrichsomeexpandedknowledgeofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish,soastobetterplaymystrengthsandmyselfcontributiontoaviationEnglishtranslation.1.2OverseasresearchonaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishterminologyThroughalargenumberofliteraturesearchwork,thisarticlesummarizessomeresearchstatusabroad.Accordingtotheforeignresearchsystem,weknowthattheyattachgreatimportancetotheapplicationofaeronauticaltechnologyEnglishtoalargeextent,forexample,howtoapplyaeronauticalEnglishtoteaching,andbetterteachstudentsmoreaboutaeronauticalEnglish.Atpresent,theresearchstatusofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishinforeigncountriesiscombinedwiththetranslationofaeronauticalEnglishinChina,whichisusedasthetranslationmaterialfortranslation.MengXiaotong’stranslationpracticereportofFAApilotAeronauticalknowledgemanualfocusesonthecontentofpilotAeronauticalknowledgemanual,searchesthesecontentsandappliesthemtotranslationresearch.ChapterTwoTheoreticalFrameworkThischapterwillcarryonthethoroughresearchandtheanalysistotheSkopostheory,throughthethoroughunderstandingoftheSkopostheoryverystudies,cancombinetheSkopostheorywiththeaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtranslationbetter,realizesthepurposebetter.InordertolearntheSkoposTheoryoftranslationbetter,Idiscussitfromtwoaspects,theyare:AoveriewofSkoposTheoryandCharacteristicsofSkopostranslationtheory.2.1AnoveriewofSkoposTheoryInasense,RiceisthefounderofGermanfunctionalisttranslationschool.Inherbookthepossibilityandlimitationoftranslationcriticism(1971),sheputsforwardthetheoryoffunctionaltranslationforthefirsttime.Theconceptof“functionaltype”isintroducedintotranslationtheory.Ricebelievesthattheidealtranslationshouldbecomprehensivecommunicativetranslation,andthefunctionalprincipleoftranslationshouldtakeprecedenceovertheprincipleofequivalenceinpractice.VermeerformallyputforwardthefunctionalSkopostheory,whichisthefoundationoffunctionalism,inthegeneraltheoreticalbasisoftranslation(1984).Heredefinedtranslationasaspecificmodeofhumanbehavior,withacertainpurpose,andputforwardthreeprinciples,whichareofgreatguidingsignificancetospecifictranslationpractice.Shefurtherdevelopedfunctionalisttranslationtheoryandputforwardtranslationbehaviortheory.Thistheoryregardstranslationasanenddriven,resultorientedinteractionbetweenpeople.Nord,anotherimportantrepresentative,summedupandsortedoutallthetranslationthoughtsoffunctionalschoolcompletelyandclearlyinhisbookpurposefulbehavior.Itrefutesthevariouscriticismsthatfunctionalisttranslationtheoryhasreceivedforalongtime.Sothatthetheoryoffunctionaltranslation(especiallySkoposTheory)canbefurtherimproved.InChina,theresearchonSkoposwheelismorecomprehensive,whichplaysanimportantroleinthedisseminationofSkoposTheoryinChina.However,inordertomaketheunderstandingofSkopostheorymorecomprehensiveandin-depth,andrealizethelocalizationinChina,furtherresearchandreflectionareneeded.ZhangYizhoupointedoutinthesummaryofthepresentsituationoftranslationSkoposinChina:“firstofall,Skopostheory,whichhasnotbeendistinguishedinmanydomesticstudies,isveryfunctionalist.Second,althoughthenumberofrelevantliteraturehasbeenincreasinginthepastfiveyears,thenumberofarticlesappliedtotranslationstudiesisfarmorethanthatofpuretheoreticalstudies.Therearemanystudiesontranslationstrategies,butfewontranslationcriticism,translationtheoryandtranslationteaching.Thirdly,mostoftheexistingarticlesonSkoposinChinalackin-depththinkingandinnovationinrepeatedresearchonthesameachievement”(Zhang,2013,p.1).InordertobetterapplytheSkoposTheoryoftranslation,weshouldcombineSkopostheorywithEnglishtranslationofaviationscienceandtechnology,enrichtheapplicationofSkoposTheoryandsolvethetranslationproblemofaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglishbetter.2.2CharacteristicsofSkopostranslationtheoryThecharacteristicsofSkopostheoryisthatSkopostheoryturnsthefocusoftranslationfromtheoriginaltextandtheauthoroftheoriginaltexttothetargettextandthetargetreaders.Itisnolongeranendlessdebatebetweenliteraltranslationandfreetranslationbasedontheequivalencetheory,butfromtheperspectiveofthefunctionandpurposeoftranslation,itemphasizesthataspecifictranslationpurposerequirescorrespondingtranslationstrategiesandmethods.Thatistosay,differenttranslationpurposescorrespondtodifferenttranslationmethods.Inordertoachieveacertaintranslationpurpose,varioustranslationmethodscanbeadopted,thusavoidingthedilemmaofliteraltranslationandfreetranslation.Skopostheorymakesthetranslationthefocus.Themainfactoroftranslationisnottheoriginaltext,butthepurposeoftranslation,whichprovidesatheoreticalbasisforthecreationofnoveltranslation.2.3DimensionsofSkoposTheorySkoposTheoryoftranslationreflectstheoveralltransformationoftranslationtheory,thatis,fromtheformerdominantlinguisticsandformorientedtranslationtheorytoamorefunctionalandsocio-culturalperspective.TheSkopostheoryholdsthatthetranslationshouldbebasedontheprinciplesofSkopos,coherenceandfaithfulness.Firstly,SkoposprincipleisthemostbasicandimportantprincipleofSkopostheory,whichmeansthattranslationshouldmakethetargettextplayacertainfunctioninthecontextofthetargettext,andplayitsdueroleinthetargettextusers,evenequivalenttotheoriginaltextusers.Thepurposeoftranslationdeterminesthearrangementofthecontent.Duetothehugedifferencesbetweenthecultureandthereceiver,therewillbeconsiderabledifferencesinthewayofpresentationandcontentdistribution.Infact,whenthefunctionorgoalofthetranslationandtheoriginalarethesameorsimilar,thetranslationbehaviorisnotjustcodeswitching.Intermsofthechoiceoftranslationmethodology,thepurposeoftranslationisstilldecisiveQualitativefactors.Secondly,theprincipleofcoherence,ortheprincipleofintralingualcoherence,referstothereadabilityofthetargettextanditsacceptanceinthetargetaudience.Italsoreferstotheconsistency,acceptabilityandreadabilityofthetranslationinthetargetlanguage.Thesubjectsinvolvedinthetranslationprocessincludeinformationsender,informationreceiver,sponsor,translator,etc.Themeaningofthetextliesinthereceptionandunderstandingofthetextandtherealizationofthetextfunctionbythetextreader.Whatthetranslatorcanandshoulddoistogeneratethetextthatismeaningfultotheculturalreadersofthetargetlanguage.Thirdly,theprincipleoffaithfulnessreferstothesentencecoherencebetweenthetranslationandtheoriginaltext,thatistosay,thecoherencebetweentheoriginaltextandthetargettextshouldbekeptsimilartothestatementoffaithfulnesstotheoriginaltext,inwhichtheformanddegreeoffaithfulnessaredeterminedbythepurposeofthetranslationtaskandthetranslator'sunderstandingoftheoriginaltext.Basedonthesethreeprinciples,thispaperstudiesthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyinEnglish,followingtheprincipleofSkopostheory,andapplyingSkopostheorytopractice.ChapterThreeCharacteristicsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishThischaptercombinesSkopostheorywiththedepthofEnglishtranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnology,anddiscussesitfromthreeaspects,combiningmethodsandtechniques,andrespondingtothetopic.AeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishmainlyhasthefollowingcharacteristics:narration,stronglogic,strictstructure,variousterms,rigorouslanguageandaccuratedata.Thisrequiresthetranslationtobeclearinconcept,clearinorder,logicalandcorrectindata.3.1AbundanttechnicaltermsThischapterisexplainedfromtwoaspects:thefirstisthecharacteristicsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish;thesecondisthetranslationofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish.Throughthesetwoaspectsofresearch,wecanclearlyexplainthecharacteristicsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtranslation.3.1.1TermsofaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglishThetermsusedinaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglishisgenerallyprofessional.Atthesametime,awordhasmanymeanings.Atthesametime,abbreviationsarealsowidelyusedinaviationscienceandtechnologyEnglish.Moreprefixesareused.Becauseaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyhasastrongprofessionalism.ItleadstothevocabularyusedinaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglish.3.1.2CharacteristicsofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishtermsAeronauticalscienceandtechnologyEnglishhasthefollowingcharacteristics:Ontheonehand,itsbiggestfeatureistheextensiveuseofaeronauticalscienceandtechnologyvocabulary,aswellasthespecializationofsomecommonlyusedwords.ManywordsareonemeaninginpublicEnglish,andhavenewmeaningsinaeronauticalEnglish.Forexample.InpublicEnglish,“Approach”means“接近,靠近”,whileinaviation,itmeans“進(jìn)場(chǎng)”.Inaddition,traditionalwordformationmethodssuchassynthesis,blending,abbreviation,usageoraffixesareusedtoenrichtheirownprofessionalvocabulary,suchascrankshafl(曲軸),avionics(航空電子學(xué)),ILS(儀表著陸系統(tǒng)),overshoot(著陸目測(cè)高,復(fù)飛)and,aerodynamics(航空動(dòng)力學(xué)),aerobatics(特技飛行)andaerodrome(機(jī)場(chǎng))derivedfromtheaffixesaeroandsoon.Ontheotherhand,fromthelexicalpointofview,anotherprominentfeatureofAeronauticalEnglishisthenominalexpressionofverbphrasesandthedynamicexpressionofbehavioralverbs,whichareconciseandvivid.Forexample,stowageofescaperope(存放應(yīng)急離機(jī)繩),balloonlanding(拉飄著陸),etc.3.2PreciseandconcisesentencesKnowledgeissystematicandindependent:theframeworkofthesystemneedsthesupportofindependentknowledgepoints.Aviationwillinvolveotherprofessionalknowled
