edoubt.ThereismuchevidenceforevoIution.Themostcompe11ingcomesfromthestudyofgenes,especia11ynowthattheHumanGenomeProjecthasbeencompIetedandthegenomesofmanyotherspeciesbeingconstantlymapped.Inparticular,humansshareanunfortunate"brokengene"withmanyotherprimates,includingchimpanzees,orangutans,andmacaques.Thisgene,whichworksfineinmostmammaIs,enablestheproductionofVitarnin0.Specieswithbrokenversionsofthegenecan'tmakeVitarninGandmustgetitfromfoodsIikeorangesandIemons.ThousandsofhaplesssailorsdiedpainfuIdeathsscurvyduringtheageofexplorationbecausetheir"VitaminC"genewasbroken.HowcandifferentspecieshaveidenticaIbrokengenes7Theonlyreasonableexplanationisthattheyinheriteditfromacommonancestor.Notsurprisingly,evoIutionsincethetimeofDarwinhasclaimedthathumans,orangutans,chimpanzees,andmacaquesevoIvedrecentlyfromacommonancestor.Thenewevidencefromgeneticscorroboratesthis.Suchevidenceprovescommonancestrywithalevelofcertaintycomparabletotheevidencethattheearthgoesaroundthesun.Thisisbutoneofmany,manyevidencesthatsupportthetruthofevoIution-thatmakeita"sacredfact"thatChristiansmustembraceinthenameoftruth.AndtheyshouIdembracethistruthwithenthusiasm,forthisistheworIdthatGodcreated.ChristiansmustcometoweIcome-ratherthanfear-theideasofevolution.TruthsaboutNaturearesacred,fortheyspeakofourCreator.Suchtruthsconstitute"God'ssecondbook"forChristianstoreadaIongsidetheBible.Inthe1'7thcentury,Galileousedthemetaphorofthe"twobooks"tohelpChristiansofhisgenerationunderstandthesacredtruththattheearthmovesaboutthesun."TheBible,"heIikedtosay,"telIsushowtogotoheaven,nothowtheheavensgo."TounderstandhowtheheavensgowemustreadthebookofNature,nottheBible.ThebookofNaturereveaIsthetruththatGodcreatedtheworldthroughgradualprocessesoverbillionsofyears,ratherthanoverthecourseofsixdays,asmanycreationistsbeIieve.EvoIutiondoesnotcontradicttheBibleuniessyouforceanunreasonableinterpretationonthatancientbook.Tosuppose,astheso-ca11edyoungearthcreationistsdo,thatGoddictatedmodernscientificideastoancientanduncomprehendingscribesistodistortthebiblicalmessagebeyondrecognition.ModernsciencewasnotintheworldviewofthebiblicalauthorsanditisnotintheBible.Scienceisnotasinisterenterpriseaimedatdestroyingfaith.It'sanhonestexplorationofthewonderfulworldthatGodcreated.WeareoftenaskedtothinkaboutwhatJesuswoulddo,ifheIivedamongustoday.WhowouldJesusvoteforWhatcarwouldhedriveTothesequestionsweshouIdadd"WhatwouldJesusbeIieveaboutorigins"AndtheansweChristianshavelongbeencommittedtopreserving,expandingandsharingtruth.Christiansfoundedmostofthegreatuniversitiesoftheworld.Christiansappliedthenewknowledgetoleadanincreasinglysimplerlifethanever.Christiansradicallydifferfromevolutionists'ininterpretingtheworldorigin.14.WethinksmalIwhenitcomestowomen.Micro,tobeexact.WhenIfirststartedreportingonwomenentrepreneursinconfIictandpost-confIictzonesin2005,nearlyeveryone,fromInternationalMonetaryFundofficiaIsintheirofficestodeveIopmentworkersinthefield,toldmetheonlywomenIwouldfindwouldbe"seiIingcheesebythesideoftheroad".Women,Iwastoldagainandagaintdidnotownthekindofgrowingbusinessesthatcreatedjobsandeconomicgrowth.This,itseemed,wasstrictlythepurviewofmen.OnecustomsofficiaIevenJokedthattheywerenotsurewhyIhadtakenaweek-1ongtriptoAfghanistantointerviewbusinesswomenwhensurelymyinterviewswouldalIfitintothespaceofasingleafternoon:WhatIfoundwhenIbeganreporting,however,wasthateveninthepoorestandmosttraditionalcountries,womenownedbusinessesthatwentweIIbeyondthemicro.InRwanda,ImetagasstationownerwithseveralworkersandawomansellingfruitsandvegetabIes―noton"thesideoftheroad"butratherforexporttoBelgiumtwiceaweek.HerworkcreatedjobsforeightpeopIeatthetime,includingherhusband,andsupportedherownandseveralotheradoptedchiIdren.InSarajevo,ImetatextiIeentrepreneur,withanewfactoryneartheoldfrontIines,whosecompanysellingbedandbathIinensempIoyed20people,mostlywomen,whocouldnowaffordtosendtheirownchiIdrentoschooI.AndinAfghanistan,famousforbeingamongthetoughestenvironmentsforwomentothrive,Imetayoungwomanwhodaredtoturndownawe11-payingjobofferfiIledwithperksfromaninternationalaidorganizationinordertostartabusinessconsultancythatshebeIievedwouldcreatejobsforherselfandmanyothers."IfIgoandworkwithaninternationalagency,theywi11givemeaveryhighsalary,butitisjustformeandmyfamily,itwi11notsupportotherpeople,"KamilaSidiqitoldmeatthetime,in2005."IfIworktostartmyowncompany,Iwi11trainalotofpeople,Iwi11helpalotofpeople."Sidiqi9sbeliefinthepowerofgrowingbusinessestohelpIifthercountryoutofpovertywassharedbythewomenImetacrossbordersandgeographies.Thoughthecontextwasdifferent,thechailengestheyfacedIookedremarkablysimilar.Findingcapitalwasnearlyimpossible.Reachinginternationalbuyersprovedtooexpensivetomakeeconomicsenseandtheirnetworkspaledincomparisontothementheyknewwhenitcametofindingnewbusinessopportunities.Noneofthatstoppedthem.TodaytheirtenacityshouldbematchedbyaninvestmentinresourcestotaptheirentrepreneurialpotentiaIandeasethepathtotakingsmalIventuresandbuildingthembigger.SmalIandmediumsizebusinessescreatejobsandhelpcountriesgrow.Mentorin
