Toiletsinpublicrestroomsseldomhavelids.Soflushingthemspraysthegermsfrom
bodywasteintotheair.Thatsameairisdrawnintothoseelectrichanddryers.These
machinesprovideanicewarmhomeinwhichmicrobescangrow,Zitasays.Cleaning
theinsideofthesemachinescanbedifficult,sheadds.
Theteenhadfourpeoplewashanddrytheirhandsinrestroomsatamallandagas
station.Theparticipantsscrubbedwithsoapandwater.Aftereachwashing,theydried
theirhandsusingoneofthreedifferentmethods.Insometrials,theysimplyusedpaper
