Mostpeopleareamixofoptimismandpessimism,butareinclinedinonedirectionortheother.Itisapatternofthinkinglearnedatourmothers‘knees.Itgrownoutofthousandsofcautionsorencouragements,negativestatementsorpositivesones.Toomany“don’t”andwarningsofdangercanmakeachildfeelincompetent,fearful—andpessimistic.Pessimismishardhabittobreak—butitcanbedone.
