ThiscodeisdevelopedbySinopecShanghaiEngineeringCo.,LtdincooperationwithotherinvolvedorganizationsbasedontherequirementsofDocumentJIANBIAO〔2009〕No.88issuedbytheMinistryofHousingandUrban-RuralDevelopmentofthePeople'sRepublicofChina-NoticeonPrintingtheDevelopmentandRevisionPlanofNationalEngineeringConstruction$tandardsin2009.
Inpreparingthiscode,thedevelopmentteammadespecialstudiesandextensiveinvestigations,summarizedthepracticesontherotarymachinedesigninrecenttenyears,solicitedthecommentsfromthedesigners,manufacturers,usersanderectors,discussedtheThiscodecomprises12chaptersand1appendix,andmainlycoversgeneralprovisions,terms,basicrequirements,pumpsandhydraulicturbines,agitators,vacuumpumps,CompressorsandFans,steamturbines,expandersandgasturbines,centrifuges,accessories,inspectionandtesting,andpainting,markingPackagingandshipment.

3BasicRequirements
3.1GeneralRequirements
3.1.1Therotarymachinesusedforpetrochemicalserviceshallbedesignedandconstructedforaminimumservicelifeof20years(excludingthewearingparts),andtheuninterruptedoperationcyclesshallbenolessthantheserviceyearsindicatedinTable3.1.1.

3.1.2Therotarymachinesshallbewithinthescopeoftheirdesignandmanufactureexperience,andatleastonesameorsimilarmodelrotarymachinehavebeenrunningsuccessfullyundersameorsimilaroperatingconditionsfortwoyearsormore.
3.1.3On-linesparesshallbeprovidedforthepumps,medium-andsmall-sizefans/blowers,instrumentaircentrifugalcompressorsandreciprocatingcompressorsincontinuousoperation,oneon-linespareshallbeprovidedforthesinglepump(rotarymachine),andatleastoneon-linespareshallbeprovidedforseveralpumps(rotarymachines)arrangedinparalleloperation.Off-linesparepartsshallbeprovidedfortheagitatorsincontinuousoperation.On-linesparesmaynotbeprovidedforthelarge-sizefans/blowers,centrifugalcompressorsandgasturbines,butlongtermpartsshouldbeprovidedascritical/capitalsparepartsforthem.
3.1.4WhenthemediumcontainH?S,chlorideorothercomponentsthatmayresultinstresscorrosion,orthemediumcontainanycomponentsthatmaybesubjecttoreactionwithcopperorcopperalloy,theyshallbeindicatedinthedatasheetsortechnicalrequisitiondocuments.Theconstructionmaterialsofrotarymachinesshallbesuitablefortherequirementsforthesemedium.
3.1.5Thecompleteunitofrotarymachineshallincludeallequipment,pipes,valves,electrical,instrumentandcontrolsystemswithinthescopeofsupply.
3.1.6Thedesignpressureofsteamjacketandcoolingwaterjacketshallbenolessthanthemaximumworkingpressureoftheirrespectiveexternalsupplysystems.
3.1.7Theminimumtemperatureriseatthewatersideofcoolingsystemshallcomplywiththe

utilitiesconditions.Whengascoolerisused,theminimumtemperatureriseshallbeatleastequalto8℃,andwhenoilcoolerisused,theminimumtemperatureriseshallbeatleastequalto4℃.
3.1.8Thegeneraldesignofrotarymachinesshallbeeasyforoperationandmaintenance,theconstructiondesignshouldalloweasydismantlingofrotorswithoutremovingtheprocesspipesonthecasings,andtheengineeringdesignshallprovidesufficientspacesandaccessesandshallbeeasyforequipmentandpipemaintenance,hotinsulation,coldinsulationandpersonnelprotectioninsulationinstallation.
3.1.9Therotarymachinesshouldbeshippedascompleteunits.Foroversizeequipment,theymaybeshippedbysegments.Forfragileparts,theymayberemovedaftertest,andthenshippedinseparate,andthematingsurfacesshallbemarked.Allfragilepartsshallbespecifiedintheinstallationmanuals.
3.2AllowableWorkingPressureandAllowable
WorkingTemperatureofRotaryMachines
3.2.1Theallowableworkingpressureandallowableworkingtemperatureofrotarymachinesshallbe
determinedbasedontheprocessoperatingconditionsanddesignparametersofrotarymachines.
3.2.2Themaximumallowableworkingpressureofpressure-containingcasingsshallconformtoTable3.2.2,andshallmatchwithpressureratingsofadjacentflanges.

3.2.4Fortherotarymachinesinstalledoutdoorswithoutinsulation,theirminimumallowableworkingtemperatureshallbedeterminedbasedontheminimumambienttemperaturespecifiedinutilitiesconditions.
3.3Inlets,OutletsandOtherConnections
3.3.1Theinlets,outletsandotherconnectionsofrotarymachinesshallbeflanged,andtheflangestandardsandpressureratingshallbespecifiedintheinquiriesordatasheets.
3.3.2Theconnectionswithintherotarymachinesmayuseotherflangestandardsbeyondthosespecifiedintheinquiriesordatasheets,theapplicablestandardsandnominalpressureratingsfor

flangesmayfollowAppendixAofthiscode.
3.4Materials
3.4.1Theconstructionmaterialsofrotarymachinesshallcomplywiththefollowingrequirements:
1Thematerialrequirementsforthepressure-containingpartsandothermaincomponentsofrotarymachinesshallbespecifiedintheinquiriesordatasheets,finalmaterialselectionshallbespecifiedintheproposalsofthemanufacturers,andspecificmaterialcodesshallbeindicatedinthedatasheets.
2Weldedpressure-containingpartsshallbesubjecttopostweldheattreatmentandnondestructivetest.
3Exceptforcaststeelparts,repairweldingshallnotbemadeonallpressure-containingcastparts.Ifrepairweldingisrequiredforcaststeelparts,itshallcomplywithArticle11.2.3ofthiscode.
4Ifthespecifiedminimumdesignmetaltemperatureislowerthan-20℃,lowtemperatureimpacttestshallbemadeforthebasemetalandweldsofallpressure-containingsteelsexceptforausteniticstainlesssteel.
5Ifchloridesarepresentinthemedium,thecomponentmaterialsincontactwiththemediumshouldnotbealuminumandausteniticstainlesssteel.
6Whenthemediumcontactwithcopperandthengenerateexplosivecoppercompounds,copperorcopperalloyshallnotbeusedtofabricatetheparts.
7ThematerialsexposedinacidenvironmentorwetH?S-containingenvironmentshallcomplywiththerequirementsspecifiedinthecurrentnationalstandardGB/T20972.1PetroleumandNaturalGasIndustries-MaterialsforUseinH?S-containingEnvironmentsinOilandGasProduction-Part1:
GeneralPrinciplesforSelectionofCracking-resistantMaterials.
8Gasketsandsealringsshallnotcontainanyasbestos.
9Hygroscopicmaterialsshallnotbeusedforsoundinsulationmaterials.
10Materialcorrosion-resistantperformanceshouldnotbeenhancedbyusingsurfaceplatingandsurfacecoating.
11Materialsforlubeoil,sealoil,sealflushinganddrygassealpipingandfittingsshallbe304or
316stainlesssteel.
12Fortheweldsthatareimpossibleforinspectionduringfabricationorafterfabrication,separatequalitycontrolmethodsshallbedetermined.
3.4.2InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofpumpsshallalsocomplywiththefollowingtherequirements:
1Castironshallnotbeusedforpressure-containingpartsofpumpsfortoxic,flammableandexplosiveliquidservices.Castironshallnotbeusedforcentrifugalpumpsandrotarypumpsfortoxic,flammableandexplosiveliquidservices,includingseallesscentrifugalpumps,andtheirbearinghousings.
2Unlessotherwisespecified,thecorrosionallowanceofpumpcasingsshallbeatleastequalto3.0mm.
3Thelinersofcannedpumpsshallbemadeofnonmagneticmaterialsandshallhavegoodcorrosionresistanceandhighstrength,statorlinershouldbeHastelloyalloy,itsminimumthicknessshallbe0.4mmandcorrosionallowanceshallbe0.15mm.Thecontainmentshellofmagneticdrivepumpshallbehigh-resistivitymaterials,Hastelloyalloyandtitaniumalloyshouldbeselected,its

minimumthicknessshallbe1mmanditscorrosionallowanceshallbe0.4mm.Formedium-andlight-dutymagneticdrivepumpsusedformediumservicewithtemperaturelowerthan120℃,theircontainmentshellsmaybenon-metalmaterialssuchasplasticsorceramics.
4Fornon-metalpumps,theirallowableworkingtemperatureshallmeetthespecialperformancerequirementssuchasmaterialthermalexpansioncoefficient,hightemperature"creep"ofplasticmaterialsandlowtemperaturecracking.Themaximumallowableworkingtemperatureofnon-metalpumpsshallbeoftheultimateheat-resistanttemperatureofthematerials.
5Thediaphragmmaterialsofpneumaticdiaphragmpumpsshallhavereliablechemicalstability,andtheworkingtemperatureshallbelessthantheultimateheat-resistanttemperatureofthediaphragmmaterials.
3.4.3InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofagitatorsshallalsocomplywiththefollowingrequirements
1Thecorrosionallowanceofagitatorshaftsandimpellersshallbeatleastequalto1.0mm.
2Theagitatorimpellersandshaftscontactingwithmediumsshallbenotlowerthanmaterialsgradeofthevessels.
3Locknuts,springwashers,lockpinsandmetallockwiresshallbeausteniticstainlesssteelorhighermaterials.Thematerialgradeoflocknutsandspringwasherscontactingwiththemediumshallbenotlowerthantheagitatorimpellers.Themetallockwirescontactingwiththemediumshouldbetitanium.
3.4.4InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofcompressorsshallalsocomplywiththefollowingrequirements:
1Thecasingmaterialsofcentrifugalandrotarycompressorsforflammableandtoxicgasservicesshallbeatleastcarbonsteel.
2Thecasingmaterialsofcentrifugalcompressorsforairornon-flammablegasservicesmaybeductileiron;however,themaximumoutletpressureofthecompressorsshallbelessthanorequaltothemaximumallowablepressureofPN50flangesatthedeliveredmediumtemperature.
3Thecasingmaterialsofrotarycompressorsforairornon-flammablegasservicesmaybeductileiron;however,themaximumoutletpressureofthecompressorsshallbelessthanorequalto
1.0MPa,andthemaximumoutlettemperatureshallbelessthanorequalto250℃.
3.4.5InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofsteamturbinesshallalsocomplywiththefollowingrequirements:
1Forsteampressureofgreaterthan0.52MPa(G)orsteamtemperatureofhigherthan230℃,allthepressure-containingpartsshallbeofsteel.
2Formaximumsteamtemperatureofhigherthan410℃,allthepressure-containingpartsshallbeofalloysteel.
3Materialforturbineshaftsandwheelsshallbeforgedsteel.
4Thenozzles,closingpieces,rotatingandstationaryblades,shrouding,andsteamstrainersshouldbeof11%to13%chromiumsteel,titanium,ornickel-copperalloy.
3.4.6InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofexpandersusedinthefollowingplantsshallalsocomplywiththefollowingrequirements:
1Forexpandersusedinairseparationplants,themainshaftsshallbealloysteel,theimpellersshallbecastaluminumandwroughtaluminum,andtheyshallbesubjecttoanodicoxidationtreatment

afterfabrication.
2Forexpandersoffluegasenergyrecoveryunitusedincatalyticcrackingplants,thematerialsofmainpartsofexpandersatvariousinlettemperaturesshallbeselectedinaccordancewithTable3.4.6.

3.4.7InadditiontotherequirementsspecifiedinArticle3.4.1ofthiscode,theconstructionmaterialsofgasturbinesshallalsocomplywiththefollowingrequirements:
1Thematerialoffuelgaspipeswithingasturbineunitshallbeatleast316Lstainlesssteel,andpipeweldsshallbe100%NDTtested.
2Theinternalsoffuelgasfiltersshallbeofstainlesssteel.
3.5Noises
3.5.1Effectivemeasuresshallbetaken/forthemainnoisesourcestocontrolthenoisetominimumlevels.Onthepremiseofmeetingsafetyandprocessflow,provisionsshouldbemadefornoisereductionsuchasnoiseabsorption,noiseeliminationandvibrationdamping.Acousticenclosuresshouldnotbeused.Whensoundinsulationhoodsareused,ventilationdevicesshallbeprovided,andthedesignofventilationdevicesshallbefacilitateunitmaintenance.
3.5.2Theoverallnoiselevel(A-weightedsoundpressurelevel)measuredat1mfromtheunitshallnotexceedthelimitvaluesshowninTable3.5.2.

3.6SpareParts
3.6.1Thesparepartsshallbeinterchangeable.
3.6.2Inspection,testandacceptanceofsparepartsshallbecarriedoutinaccordancewiththe

correspondingtechnicalrequirementsorspecificationsfortherotarymachines.
3.6.3Therequirementsandnumberofsparepartsshallbedeterminedbasedonthefollowingprinciples:
1Thecriticalityandoperationcasesofrotarymachinesintheplant,andinstalledsparerequiredornot;
2Thecriticalityofeachpartinrotarymachine,theproportionofthepriceofexpensivepartoutofthelossofplantshutdownduetodamageofthepart;
3Theinterchangeabilityofwearpartsofsameorsimilarrotarymachinesortherotarymachinesinonetrain;
4Theavailabilityofthesparepartsintheregionorcountrywherethecontractplantissited,andtheprocurementandthedeliverytimeofthespareparts.
3.7SpecialTools
3.7.1Ifspecialtoolsandixturesarerequiredtodisassemble,assembletheunit,theyshallbefurnishedaspartoftheinitialsupplyofthemachineattachedwiththelist.

4PumpsandHydraulicTurbines
4.1GeneralRequirements
4.1.1Pumptypesshallbedeterminedbasedonoperatingparametersandmediumcharacteristics,andmaybedeterminedbasedontheprovensuccessfulexperienceinsimilarcases.
4.1.2Whenselectingpumps,centrifugalpumpsshouldbepreferablyselected.Whenthemediumviscosityislargerthanorequalsto100MPa·s,displacementtypepumpshouldbeselected.
4.1.3Whentheoperatingparametersarelowflowandhighhead,pumpsshouldbeselectedinthefollowingorder:
1High-speedcentrifugalpump,pitottubepump;
2Rotarypump,reciprocatingpump;
3Multi-stagecentrifugalpump;
4Vortexpumpmaybeselectedwithlowercavitationstendency.
4.1.4Ifmeteringisrequired,meteringpumpshallbeselected.
4.1.5Centrifugalpumpandrotarypumpshallbeequippedwithcartridgemechanicalseals.ThesealsandsealingsystemsshallbeselectedaccordingtoSH/T3156EngineeringSpecificationofPump-shaftSealSystemsofCentrifugalandRotaryPumpsforPetrochemicalIndustry.
4.2CentrifugalPumps
4.2.1Forcentrifugalpumpshandlingnon-hazardousfluidslinpetrochemicalindustry,whenthefollowingoperatingconditionsaremet,centrifugalpumpsformedium-andlight-dutyservicesshouldbeselectedandshallconformtothecurrentindustrialstandardSH/T3140TechnicalSpecificationonCentrifugalPumpsforMedium-andLight-dutyServicesinPetrochemicalIndustry,otherwise,centrifugalpumpsforheavy-dutyservicesshouldbeselectedandshallconformtothecurrentindustrialstandardSH/T3139TechnicalSpecificationonCentrifugalPumpsforHeavy-dutyServicesinPetrochemicalIndustry.
1Rateddischargepressure:≤1.9MPa(G).
2Pumpingtemperature(liquidtemperature):<225℃.
3Ratedrotatedspeedformotor-drivenpumps:≤3000r/min,theratedrotatedspeedmaybeincreasedby5%forturbine-drivenpumps.
4Ratedhead:≤120m.
5Maximumsuctionpressure:≤0.5MPa(G).
6Maximumimpellerdiameterforoverhungpumps:≤330mm.
