1、Spring Festival the most grand festival,The origin of the Lunar New Year Festival can be traced back thousands of years, involving a series of colorful legends and traditions. One of the most famous legends is Nian, an extremely cruel beast that the ancients believed would devour people on New Years
2、 Eve. To keep Nian away, red-paper couplets are pasted on doors, torches are lit, and firecrackers are set off throughout the night, because Nian is said to fear the color red, the light of fire, and loud noises.,關(guān)于“春節(jié)”的起源,有一種傳說(shuō)是:中國(guó)古時(shí)候有一種叫“夕”的獸(又名年),頭長(zhǎng)觸角,兇猛異常。“夕”長(zhǎng)年深居海底,每到特定的一天(現(xiàn)在說(shuō)的除夕)才爬上岸,吞食牲畜傷害人命。因
3、此,每到除夕這天,村村寨寨的人們扶老攜幼逃往深山,以躲避“夕”獸的傷害。有一年除夕,從村外來(lái)了個(gè)乞討的老人。鄉(xiāng)親們一片匆忙恐慌景象,只有村東頭一位老婆婆給了老人些食物,并勸他快上山躲避“夕”獸,那老人把胡子撩起來(lái)笑道:“婆婆若讓我在家呆一夜,我一定把夕獸趕走?!崩掀牌爬^續(xù)勸說(shuō),乞討老人笑而不語(yǔ)。 半夜時(shí)分,“夕”獸闖進(jìn)村。它發(fā)現(xiàn)村里氣氛與往年不同:村東頭老婆婆家,門貼大紅紙,屋內(nèi)燭火通明。“夕”獸渾身一抖,怪叫了一聲。將近門口時(shí),院內(nèi)突然傳來(lái)“砰砰啪啪”的炸響聲,“夕”渾身戰(zhàn)栗,再不敢往前湊了。,原來(lái),“夕”最怕紅色、火光和炸響。這時(shí),婆婆的家門打開(kāi),只見(jiàn)院內(nèi)一位身披紅袍的老人在哈哈大笑?!跋?/p>
4、”大驚失色,狼狽逃躥了。 第二天也是正月初一,避難回來(lái)的人們見(jiàn)村里安然無(wú)恙,十分驚奇。這時(shí),老婆婆才恍然大悟,趕忙向鄉(xiāng)親們述說(shuō)了乞討老人的許諾。這件事很快在周圍村里傳開(kāi)了,人們都知道了驅(qū)趕“夕”獸的辦法。從此每年除夕,家家貼紅對(duì)聯(lián)、燃放爆竹;戶戶燭火通明、守更待歲。初一一大早,還要走親串友道喜問(wèn)好。這風(fēng)俗廣泛流傳,成了中國(guó)民間最隆重的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日。,To the ancient times period, there is a kind of fierce monster called ”year”. In the past, the Chinese usually wrote their own spring couplet with a brush or asked others to do for them, while nowadays, it is common for people to buy the printed spring couplet in the market.,The custom of pasting New Year Prints originated fr
7、om the tradition of placing Door Gods on the external doors of houses. With the creation of board carvings, New Year paintings cover a wide range of subjects. The most famous ones are Door Gods, Surplus Year after Year Three Gods of Blessing, Salary and Longevity, An Abundant Harvest of Crops, Thriv
8、ing Domestic Animals and Celebrating Spring. Four producing areas of New Year Print are Tohuwu of Suzhou, Yngliuqing of Tianjin, Wuqing of Hebei and Weifang of Shangdong. Now the tradition of pasting New Year paintings is still kept in rural China, while it is seldom followed in cities.,On New Years
9、 Eve, the whole family will sit together to make jiaozi and celebrate the Spring Festival. The shape of jiaozi is like gold ingot(金元寶)from ancient China. So people eat them and wish for money and treasure. You cannot have a complete Spring Festival without having jiaozi.,In the past few years, such
10、an activity was completely or partially forbidden in big cities including Beijing due to fire and personal casualty caused by burning firecrackers. However, some Chinese thought that a Spring Festival without firecrackers was not lively enough and they burned firecrackers by stealth. So in recent ye
11、ars, the ban was canceled again. This shows that burning firecrackers is a very important activity during the Spring Festival.,貼窗花和“?!?Pasting Paper-cuts and “Up-sided Fu” Paper-cuts, usually with auspicious patterns, give a happy and prosperous atmosphere of the Festival and express the good wishes
12、 of Chinese people looking forward to a good life. In addition to pasting paper-cuts on windows, it is common for Chinese to paste the character “fu(福)”, big and small, on walls, doors and doorposts around the houses. “Fu(福)” shows peoples yearning toward a good life. Some people even invert the cha
13、racter “fu(福)” to signify that blessing has arrived because “inverted” is a homonym for “arrive” in Chinese. Now many kinds of paper-cuts and “fu(福)” can be seen in the market before the Festival.,守歲 Staying Up Late on New Years Eve,The tradition of staying up late to see New Year in originated from
14、 an interesting folk tale. In ancient China there lived a monster named Year, who was very ferocious. Year always went out from its burrow on New Years Eve to devour people. Therefore, on every New Years Eve, every household would have supper together. After dinner, no one dared go to sleep and all
15、the family members would sit together, chatting and emboldening each other. Gradually the habit of staying up late on New Years Eve is formed. Thus in China, “celebrating the Spring Festival” is also called “passing over the year (guo nian)”. However, now there are less and less people in cities who
