4、. It is one of the most popular adventure (冒險(xiǎn))novels in all literature. It is the story of Robinson Crusoe, an Englishman who is shipwrecked(船只失事) in a lonely tropical(熱帶的) island. He builds himself a hut(棚), grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient(自給自足). After 23 years he meets with a group

5、 of cannibals and saves one of their prisoners, a young native whom he calls Friday. Crusoe and his “man” Friday become close friends, and when they are finally saved four years later, both return to England. Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds (真實(shí)事情)of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-ce

6、ntury Scottish sailor(水手) who spent almost five years alone on a desert island.
