1、2009年大學英語四級預測作文題1. On Power Shortage 電力短缺近年來很多城市都出現(xiàn)了電力不足的現(xiàn)象,這也成為社會的一個熱點話題,究竟是什么原因造成的呢? Recently, every morning when I wake up, I find my air-conditioner automatically turned off. I didnt understand why at first, but soon I learned that there is a great shortage of electricity supply in our citymy ai
2、r-conditioner turned off because of a power failure midnight. With the rapidly developing industry and the ever increasing population, demand for electricity supply is soaring. Besides, summers in recent years are much hotter than before, so most working places and households are air-conditioned, wh
3、ich consumes additional electricity. Faced with such a hard nut, we have to find ways to crack it. Above all, in western areas of China, there is surplus of electricity supply. So, cities that are thirsty for electricity may ask for remote help. Then, when we have electricity, we should remember to
4、save it. Set your air-conditioners at 270C and you wont feel less comfortable than when they are at 260C. In fact, some factories already shift their working hours to avoid the peak time of electricity-consuming. My parents dont work from Monday through Friday as beforethey work from Sunday through
5、Thursday and have/take the following two days off instead. This is also a way out, isnt it? 字串3 2. 7、e believe that stress is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. They are of the opinion that a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. Others argue that stress contributes to ones mental decline and hence endangers his health. According to them, relax
8、ation, the opposite of stress, is essential for a healthy mind and body. Personally, Im in favor of the former view. I think it is impossible to avoid stress when one is entirely devoted to the career he pursues. In my opinion, it is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor
9、performance and ill health 3. 2009 Financial Crisis 2009金融危機 2009年,因為美國次貸危機引發(fā)的金融危機已經(jīng)在全球蔓延開來,這對全球的經(jīng)濟來說似乎是一場災難但是有人卻認為,是危也是機那么2009金融危機究竟給我們帶來了什么呢? I think we can sum up the cause of our current economic crisis in one word GREED. Over the years, mortgage lenders were happy to lend money to people who co
10、uldnt afford their mortgages. But they did it anyway because there was nothing to lose. These lenders were able to charge higher interest rates and make more money on sub-prime loans. If the borrowers default, they simply seized the house and put it back on the market. On top of that, they were able
11、 to pass the risk off to mortgage insurer or package these mortgages as mortgage-backed securities. Easy money! and what went wrong with our financial system? The whole thing was one big scheme. Everything was great when houses were selling like hot cakes and their values go up every month. Lenders
12、made it easier to borrow money, and the higher demand drove up house values. Higher house values means that lenders could lend out even bigger mortgages, and it also gave lenders some protection against foreclosures. All of this translates into more money for the lenders, insurers, and investors. Un
13、fortunately, many borrowers got slammed when their adjustable mortgage finally adjusted. When too many of them couldnt afford to make their payments, it causes these lenders to suffer from liquidity issue and to sit on more foreclosures than they could sell. Mortgage-backed securities became more ri
14、sky and worth less causing investment firms like Lehman Brothers to suffer. Moreover, insurers like AIG who insured these bad mortgages also got in trouble. The scheme worked well, but it reverses course and is now coming back to hurt everyone . 字串8 4. Brain Drain 人才流失人才流失、特別是關(guān)鍵人才流失已經(jīng)影響到國家安全,這是不容回避的
15、現(xiàn)實。中國的人才流失問題已經(jīng)很嚴重。 At the same time, a big crowd of well-educated people who are determined to follow their footsteps take TOEFL or GRE as their passport to the West.) However, people see this phenomenon in different perspectives. Some hold the opinion that China suffers a lot from brain drain. They
16、 argue, on the one hand, that brain drain considerably weakens our international competitiveness. On the other hand, they believe that the talent should serve their native country first.In contrast, others highlight the advantages of international exchange and cooperation. They claim that Chinese yo
17、uths should go abroad to study and gain more experience. Whats more, the long-term benefits will outweigh losses we suffer now. Brain drain poses a challenge. China should go all out to attract talented people in order to better compete in the world. For one thing, decent living and working conditio
18、ns should be offered to specialists. For another, we have to better develop our economy, which is a sure bait for all kinds of talent. 5. Re-employment of Laid-off Workers 下崗再就業(yè)下崗失業(yè),到底應該如何面對?是選擇消沉下去,一蹶不振;還是選擇排除萬難,奮勇向前。路其實在就在自己的腳下,下崗并不可怕,只要正確面對,逆境同樣孕育著希望,坎坷也能成財富,照樣能鑄造輝煌的人生。 As we all know, there are
19、more and more laid-off workers in China now mainly because of the rapid changes in the economic reform. Among them are the old and the young, men and women, and even some well-educated graduates. Whats more, with more and more workers being laid-off, lots of social problems have appeared. As a resul
20、t, the issue of re-employment of the laid-off workers has become one of the hot topics and drawn much attention from governments at all levels. A number of solutions are being offered. First of all, re-training programs should be organized to help the laid-off workers to learn new skills to help the
21、m keep up with the changing society. Besides, our government should take some necessary measures to createmore new opportunities of employment for these peopie. Finally, colleges and universities should reform their courses to adapt to the development of economy so as to provide qualified studens to
22、 meet the needs of society In my opinion, solving the problem of re-employment of laid-off workers needs the effort of the whole society, including our government, the laid-off workers themselves and all those who are ready to offer their help, Moreover, the lay-off workers, especially the well-educ
23、ated graduates, should lower their standards before looking for satisfying jobs. 6. Dont Aim High But Accomplish Little 不要眼高手低眼高手低是現(xiàn)在很多大學生都容易犯的錯誤但是俗話說仗要一個一個打,飯要一口一口吃。即使你要登上月球,也還是要從地上出發(fā)一切都要從 實際出發(fā)。In real life, some people often aim high but accomplish little. They dream of buying the best future for
24、themselves, while they dont know how to perform basic duties in their daily lives. They shower themselves with endless fancy ideasmwhereas they remain powerless and unable to shoulder any heavy tasSg ( Why do some people aim high but accomplish little I The reasons vary. Relatively speaking, some ha
25、ve stronger academic background, but they dont possess practical problem solving skills. Some are well equipped with intelligence, but weak in will power or physical power. And some could not establish a positive attitude to their abilities. The side effects of aiming high but accomplishing little m
26、ay be listed as follows. Firstly, it makes these people unable to keep the right orientation Secondly, it is likely that people may fail to seize opportunities that lead to success. Thirdly, it leads to the feeling of being beaten down by fate In a word, it exerts a negative influence on ones life a

A newspaper article says many students admit that they have cheated in exams because of excessive pressure coming from their parents and teachers who demand high mark
30、s in their examination. When they fail to live up to their parents expectations, some may even commit suicide. Student should be self-motivated. Fair competition should be encouraged. Most students do better when they are studying for themselves, not for their parents or teachers and definitely not

We should have position 我們應該要有立場我們常說做人要有自己的立場,不能保證自己的每次立場都是正確的,但有必要讓別人知道自己的想法,不喜歡就是不喜歡,不愿意就是不愿意,不贊同就是不贊同,過多的為他人考慮,一味的遷就并不是明智的選擇慮,一味的遷就并不是明智的選擇 I think it is probably true that people are never satisfied with what they have. The grass is always greener some where else is an old expression, but it is a good expression of how many of us feel. We are always striving for a better job, a nicer place to live, a fancier car, or more expensive cloth
34、es. Part of this reaching for more and better is because we care about what other people think and want to impress them. Part of it is trying to make ourselves feel successful. But theres also something in our nature that tells us we can do better and reach higher. This isnt always a genative qualit
35、y. Theres another saying: “a mans reach should excess his grasp. Or whats a heaven for?” it is a good thing to be constantly pushing ourselves and looking for something difference, if we dont try for more and more difference things, we begin to stagnate, like a pool that does not get any fresh water

Their reasons run as following: to begin with, high salary can bring them happy life; in addition, with high salary, they can do what
45、ever they want. But some others prefer to choose a job with promising future. They base their choice on the following reasons: on one hand, a promising job itself means a raise and promotion in the future; on another hand, job with a bright future will bring them honor and sense of pride. As for me,
46、 if Im left to make the choice, Ill not hesitate to choose a promising job. First of all, I appreciate the honor and challenge it brings to me. At the same time, if I work hard, it will offer me a lot of opportunities including high salary, good position, etc. 12. 跳槽的看法(View on Job-hopping) People h
