3TextreadingUNIT6ReadingReadingZhongbeganhisjourneyinjingtailanproductionin1978.Atthattime,theBeijingEnamelFactorywaslookingfornewartisans,whowouldcontinuethetraditionofthisancientartform.Zhong’spassionfordrawinginspiredhimtoapply,andhewasacceptedintotheprogram.Atthefactory,Zhongwasabletodrawinspirationfromexperiencedmastersandskilleddesigners.HeandhisfellownewcomerswerealsotakenontripstothePalaceMuseum,wheretheystudiedhistoricalartifacts.Thisexposurewasaneye-openingexperienceandenabledhimtodelveintotheintricatepatternsandcharacteristicsthatdefinetraditionalChineseart.
4TextreadingUNIT6ReadingReadingItwasduringthisperiodthatZhongbegantotrulyappreciatetheartistryofjingtailan.Hewasfascinatedbytherichandvibrantglazesandluxuriousgoldendecorations.Withawell-roundededucationinartanddesignandpracticalexperience,Zhongdeepenedhisunderstandingofandpassionforjingtailan.Hewaswellonhiswaytobecomingamasterofthiscraft.5TextreadingUNIT66Inthegoldeneraofjingtailanproduction,thefactorywasalivelyplace.Ithadmorethan1,800employees,withover200artisansworkinginZhong’sworkshopalone.ReadingReadingHowever,later,thelandscapeforjingtailanshifteddramaticallyasthecloisonnéexportmarketdeclined,alongwithlittledomesticdemandforsuchnon-essentialgoods.Facingthesechallenges,manyartisanschosetoleaveinsearchofbetteropportunities.Zhongchosetoremain.Hewasdrivenbyadeepattachmenttojingtailanandastrongsenseofresponsibilitytokeeptheartformalive.Herealizedthatthesecrettosurvivalwasinembracingthetimes–andsoitwastimeforachange.7TextreadingUNIT6ReadingReadingMotivatedbyacommitmenttobothheritageandinnovation,Zhonghasundertaken
