Establishedin2007byChinaScholarshipCouncil(CSC),anon-profitinstitutionentrustedbytheChineseGovernmenttomanagetheStateScholarshipFund,thePostgraduateScholarshipProgramaimstoimprovethetrainingofcreativeanddistinguishedpostgraduatesandenhancethedevelopmentofChina’shighereducation.Overfiveyears,CSCwillsponsoreachyearuptosixthousandtalentedChinesestudentsforoverseasstudy,pursuingdoctoraldegreesorconductingacademiccooperationunderjoint-trainingprogramsatworld-classuniversities.

AsoneofthemostprestigiousuniversitiesinChina,SichuanUniversity(SCU)planstosend100postgraduateseachyearunderthisprogramforoverseasstudy.Itisbelievedthatthisscholarshipprogramalsoextendsapreciousopportunityforouruniversitytoexpandandenhanceacademicandresearchcooperationwithtopuniversitiesaroundtheworld.

4.1.DoctoralDegreeProgram

Whowishtopursuedoctoraldegreesatoverseasuniversitiesmayapplyfor36-48monthscholarshipsfromtheCSC.Thelengthofscholarshipcanalsobedeterminedaccordingtotherequirementsofdoctoralstudiesatforeignuniversities.

ApplicationmaterialsincludeformaladmissiontoaPh.D.programataforeignuniversity,togetherwithastatementoftuitionfeewaiveroranotherscholarshipgrantedbytheforeignuniversitythatcoversthetuitionfee.

AwardeesshoulddeclarethesupportofCSCintheirdissertations.TheyareexpectedtoreturntoChinaafterfinishingtheirdoctoraldegreeprograms,withtheexceptionofconductingpost-doctoralresearchfornomorethantwoyears.
