TeachingProcedure:
Step1:Warm-up(5minutes)
Greetthestudentsandengagetheminashortdiscussionaboutpersonalities.
Askquestionssuchas:“Whatwordscanyouusetodescribesomeone’spersonality”or“Canyoucomparetwopeople’spersonalitiesHow”
Step2:IntroductionofVocabulary(10minutes)
Presentvocabularyrelatedtopersonalities,suchasoutgoing,quiet,funny,serious,etc.
Usevisualaids,flashcards,orreal-lifeexamplestohelpstudentsunderstandthemeaningsofthesewords.
Practicethepronunciationandusageofthenewvocabularybymodelingandhavingstudentsrepeatafteryou.
Step3:ComparativeAdjectives(10minutes)
Explaintheconceptofcomparativeadjectivesandhowtheyareusedtocomparetwoormorethings.
Provideexamplesofcomparativesentencesusingthevocabularyintroducedearlier.
Discusstheformationofcomparativeadjectives(-er,more)andtherulesforspellingchanges(e.g.,happy->happier,important->moreimportant).
Step4:ListeningActivity(1a-1c)(15minutes)
Playtheaudiorecordingforstudentstolistenandcompletethesentencesin1a.
Checktheanswersasawholeclassandhighlightthecomparativeformsusedinthesentences.
Step5:PairWork(1d-2d)(20minutes)
Dividethestudentsintopairs.
Handouttheworksheetsforpairwork(1d-2d).
Inpairs,studentswillintervieweachotherusingthepromptsontheworksheetandcompletethesentenceswithcomparativeadjectives.
Monitorthepairs’conversations,providingassistanceandfeedbackasneeded.
Randomlyselectafewpairstosharetheircompletedsentenceswiththeclass.
Step6:GroupDiscussion(10minutes)
Formsmallgroups(3-4students)andhavethemdiscussthequestionsbasedontheirownexperiencesusingthetargetlanguage.
Encouragestudentstocomparethemselveswiththeirfamilymembersorfriendsandexpresstheiropinionsusingcomparativeadjectives.
Walkaroundthegroups,facilitatediscussions,andprovidelanguagesupportwhennecessary.
Asksomegroupstosharetheirinterestingcomparisonswiththeentireclass.
Step7:SummaryandHomework(5minutes)
Summarizethekeypointscoveredinthelesson,includingvocabulary,comparativeadjectives,andexpressingopinions.
Assignhomeworkforconsolidation,suchaswritingashortparagraphcomparingtwopeople’spersonalitiesorcreatingadialogueusingcomparativeadjectives.
Remindstudentsoftheupcomingassessmentorquizrelatedtothetopic,ifapplicable.
