I.BackgroundInformation

Thislessonplanisdesignedforthe2022-2023academicyearforGradeSixEnglishstudents.ThemainobjectiveofthislessonistohelpstudentsdeveloptheirwritingandspeakingskillsinEnglishthroughstorytelling.Thelessonaimstoencouragestudentstobecreativeandimaginativeastheylistentoandtellstories.

II.LearningObjectives

Bytheendofthislesson,thestudentswill:

HaveimprovedtheirlisteningandspeakingskillsinEnglishbylisteningtoandtellingstories.

Beabletodemonstratetheircreativeandimaginativeskillsastheytellstoriesthattheyhavecomposed.

Haveimprovedtheirwritingskillsbywritingashortstorybasedonagivenprompt.

III.LanguageSkills

Thislessonwillfocusonthefollowinglanguageskills:

Listening:Studentswilllistentoastoryandidentifythekeyelementsofthestory,includingthecharacters,thesetting,andtheplot.

Speaking:Studentswillparticipateingroupdiscussionstosharetheirideasandopinionsaboutthestory.

Writing:Studentswillwriteashortstorybasedonagivenprompt.

Handoutswiththestorywritingprompt

V.Procedures

Warm-up(10minutes)

Theteacherwillbegintheclassbyhavingashortdiscussionaboutholidaysandfunactivities.Studentswillsharetheirfavoriteholidayactivitiesanddiscusswhytheyfindthemenjoyable.

Listeningactivity(20minutes)

Theteacherwillreadastoryfromastorybooktotheclass.Afterthestoryisfinished,theteacherwillaskthestudentstoidentifythekeyelementsofthestory,includingthecharacters,setting,andplot.

GroupDiscussion(20minutes)

Theteacherwilldividetheclassintosmallgroupsofthreetofourstudents.Eachgroupwilldiscussthestory,sharetheirthoughtsandopinions,andanswerquestionsaboutthecharacters,setting,andplot.

Writingactivity(30minutes)

Theteacherwillprovidethestudentswithastorywritingprompt.Studentswillhave30minutestowriteashortstorybasedonthegivenprompt.

Storytelling(20minutes)

Afterthestudentshavefinishedwritingtheirstories,eachstudentwilltaketurnssharingtheirstorywiththeclass.Theteacherandotherstudentswillprovidefeedbackonthestory.

Closing(10minutes)

Theteacherwillsummarizethelessonandaskthestudentstoreflectonwhattheyhavelearnedduringtheclass.

VI.Assessment

Thestudents’understandingofthelessonobjectivesandtheirabilitytodemonstratetheirlanguageskillswillbeassessedthroughthefollowingmethods:

VII.Conclusion
